While we may have reason to be angry at the evil in the world, we need to remember that people are not what we hate, it is the opposing Kingdom. What does it look like to follow Jesus with No Ulterior Motives? Truthfully, it is really difficult to do ANYTHING without ulterior motives. Everything we look at is done through the eyes of self if we live in a human body. Even the most Kingdom-minded people have this little voice down inside them that says "if I do this, then I will get that". I believe this is why we must seek FIRST the Kingdom of God (realize we have a King in authority and we are no longer a part of the Kingdom we physically live in) and His Righteousness. His righteousness is not a "what", HE is a "Who"! Truly Righteous works isn't a controlled action, it is a release of control to HIS Righteousness. Yes, "self-control" is a fruit of the SPIRIT, but discipline can be accomplished by anyone! How do you control your "self"? Is it yielding to His constant voice rather than "trying our best" to act like a good Christian? Anyone can be "disciplined" in their actions, but that doesn't mean they are being submitted to Kingdom authority. Do you approach living the Christian life like the Bible is an "instruction manual" that you are obligated to carry out, or do you hear the voice of the Shepherd and simply follow Him? Do you go through your day in constant communion with Jesus or is He just someone you can pray to, complain to, ask for stuff from, when you get a minute to stop? If you argue that He can't be "heard" and the only way He speaks to us is by reading and doing what you read in the Bible, then you are missing the most amazing part of being a Christian...relationship. Religion follows the pattern, relationship (IN Christ) IS....just IS. I AM that I AM. If we love Him and seek Him with our whole hearts, He will change us from the inside out. If we spend all our waking moments loving on the King, we will bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth with us in our daily tasks. It will just BE. Is this a correct statement? What makes us holy? Is acting right, being holy? Does acting in the flesh make us unholy? I believe there is a difference between acting like a "good" Christian and walking IN Christ. There are many injustices in the world. It is enough to make a person lose their cool! We can look at injustice and, if we aren't listening closely to what the Spirit is saying, we could justify ruining our witness! While "We will not bow our knee" may seem like a spiritual power move, what it could show is our ignorant building of a stumbling block. Our WITNESS is more important than our RIGHTS! Romans 14:13 - Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in [his] brother's way. 1 Corinthians 8:13 - Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend. What is your stance in the face of injustice? Is it that of a citizen of the world that has rights and "the violent take it by force"? Many people get upset when the protocols for avoiding Covid-19 are scoffed at and ignored.
