charlotte meyer  ...    ▇▇▇    the  flight  was  a  rather  long  one  —  from  Silverstone  ,  all  the  way  to  Texas.  and  she  was  at  his  side  the  whole  time.  the  McLaren  jet  –  all  to  themselves  as  his  teammate  was  with  another.  a  moment  she  was  thankful  as  she  had  been  crushing  so  hard  on  the  one  next  to  her.  he  was  incredible.  no  doubt  about  that.  the  safety  car  driver  hadn't  been  feeling  this  sort  of  way  ever  in  her  life.  and  yet  ,  here  she  was.  she  was  scrolling  through  her  phone  when  he  leaned  over  ,  resting  his  head  on  her  shoulder.  causing  her  to  smile  softly  before  resting  her  own  on  top  of  his.  ❝  want  anything  ?   I  could  use  umm,  a  bit  of  a  drink.  ❞

"I'm just, like... I dunno, nervous I guess." One leg bounces, eyes trained on his also-fidgeting hands. Yeah, it's not his first professional game, but it's his first game here, his first game in Europe. He's not even starting yet, and he's anxious just to be sitting on the bench. "I've never played in a country where this is like, the sport, y'know? It's just different."
