For: @theartofruling (Markus x Rowan)
Where: Northland Falls, in Rowan's Northland Getaway
Markus had kept it a surprise until they pulled up, he hadn't been very doting their previous anniversary so he wanted to show Rowan just how much he had grown to love her in so many different ways. First was the house, and then as they walked a room filled with flowers. A bouquet for everyday they had spent together in their marriage. He hoped it was far beyond what she had expected and he had even to a point shocked himself. He lead her through the new home showing her the things that he felt made this hers more than his.
The occasional flashes of sunlight from the large windows, it was hers to furnish, even though he had added some things already that he thought she would like. He couldn't bring her to an empty house after all. It was hers though to do with as she pleased and when she needed a moment of reprieve she could get it here. "What do you think?" He smiled asking her honest opinion, "I have more for you. This is just the beginning."
With everything that had been going on at times he felt he was neglecting Rowan. His worry taking over and causing him to doubt himself in not only his past life but his current one as well. It wasn't a new feeling though, Rowan had kept him second guessing himself from the moment she proposed. He took her hand and led her to the room that could only be described as the library. a fire already rumbling in the fireplace and his gifts spread out on the table in front of it. He sat down with her on the couch in front of the table and started handing her things. He cleared his throat as he handed the first, "I thought this would be fun for us to do." He said handing her the box with the first gift inside. The bits of broken dark glass bowl represented him, he explained, "the gold would be you. I've felt very broken over the years but I can see you putting pieces back everyday. Everyday you make it a little easier for me to breath, smile, or feel things I never thought I would feel again."
He hummed a laugh at the next gift, as he handed her too. "Don't start with this one." He smirked, "I know it's not my taste but it is yours." He said nodding towards the gift box, "I thought, since you got it tattooed, the least I could do was have something with the dates on it." He held up a finger, "but you're not getting the matching often, or that on me much either, unless you put me in it." His features softened and he leaned in, holding her face and pressing a kiss to each cheek before he placed one on her lips. "I love you, so much Rowan. I don't think I could ever express it enough and sometimes I feel as though I fall flat doing so but I do love you, more than I could ever explain."
