i think at some point younger gon accidentally calls mito ‘mom’. she ruffles his hair and tells him its alright. she cried herself to sleep. not of sadness: but of joy. she was honored to be considered a mother figure to gon. it meant she was atleast doing something right. hearing gon say to killua that he thought of mito as his mom, made her heart swell.
