• despite all the cooling systems both present throughout his body and his jacket, royce tends to run at dangerously high temperatures, close to high fever level. he is not physically bothered by this, but he has to keep extra cautious when jacked into a mech or even networks ( though the latest is extremely rare ). of course, he does not really act cautious, so far he has yet to experience any serious overheating issues beside discomfort and slight burning around the ports he uses to jack in.
• many maelstromers are deeply involved in occult business and beliefs, not so much for the case of royce. he is a bit more inclined into actually listening to that business than most, but isn’t an avid consumer of all things occult related. he does know how much other maelstromers are into it so he still tends to lean into it as well, as he understands believes like these can really make people really involved into the gang, until it’s too late to survive.
• his interest in the very strong music culture that maelstrom nurtures is genuine though, with him having a deep appreciation of the typical genres favored by the totentanz. lots of metal, punk and harder rock, the club does specialize in neo-death, but as long as a band is heavy enough and, most importantly, anti-corpo and no sellouts, then they might end up being welcome at the club.
• never can it top tinnitus in royce’s mind though, despite the band being much much modern than a lot of other stuff royce grew up with, they are his absolute favorite. lots of it as to do with how they play through maelstromers implants and how they’re music is best experienced on a cocktail of hallucinogenics.
• he’s been cyberpsychotic for a good few years now, and has since slowed down his convertion, though it is still very much of a goal for him. he’s always been unstable and the cyberpsychosis really isn’t helping, but his case isn’t nearly as bad as some others. he can’t be trusted, is incredibly quick to reach dangerous levels of aggression, but in the end he manages to maintain some sort of functionality
• avid consummer of drugs, to a point where many do not seem to be affecting him, or he’s simply too much of a machine to fully feel the effects. favorite drugs may vary but he’s a personal fan of black lace, obviously, and lesade occasionally because he do be that freak.
• in verses where he remains at the head of maelstrom instead of brick, not short after the militech incident, patricia ends up with a bullet in the back of the head, just like she had suggested to brick concerning royce.
• the detachment he feels towards “meat-faces” is amplified tenfold would he ever encounter any sort of animal, to the point he would not recognize the thing as an organic being.
• despite everything else he might get on, he cannot get drunk anymore, simply lacking the natural organs needed to experience that, the cybernetic replacements too efficient at filtering alcohol out of his system to have him feel anything. he does not really miss it in all honesty, he has plenty of other options.
• sleeping with the red eye implant is EXTREMELY difficult to get used to at first, as there are simply no more eyelids to stop all that visual information for coming ? at best, perception can dim to a more limited vision, while the optics themselves can be set to reactivate at normal perception upon certain events ( movements, sounds, etc ). this does mean that yes, a sleeping maelstromer kinda still looks like they’re still staring at you with their lifeless eyes.
• his least favorite gang is the animals. while maelstrom tends to have more frequent disputes with the tyger claws, the animals use cyberware the complete opposite way of how maelstrom does and in his ( thirteen ) eyes, this is just an absolute waste of chrome.
• on the opposite end of the spectrum, scavengers can sometimes reach out to maelstrom and make deals while remaining on relatively good terms. lots and lots of cyberware ripped out of scavs victims end up being purchased by maelstrom.
• with how much the NCPD avoids the totentanz, and how the club itself ends up being a surprisingly controlled environment, royce basically lives there, just above it. to be fair he has lots and lots of places he can drop by, but that is the one that is solely handled by him.
