I think the reason found family is so important to people is bc it's the same or greater levels of understanding and care that are supposed come with the family you're born into but without the people in it trying to control you. There is no weird fucked up power imbalance where both parties remember when one was In Charge of All Actions. Or had Higher Authority. there is a special form of love in caring about someone without even attempting to have control over them. One that all to often can only be found, in a found family.
