Iāve started reading this book a while ago and put it down after 20 pages because I was so tired after coming back from work but I picked it up again yesterday around 10pm and I couldnāt stop myself from reading it. Itās only when it was 3.30am, I forced myself to stop and told myself I will finish it this evening.
She is pretty and talented - sweet sixteen and never been kissed. He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future. And now they have fallen in love. But... they are brother and sister.
Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their livesāand the way they understand each other so completelyāhas also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right.
I canāt tell you how much this book is great, how much it makes me feel holy shit!! I think Iāve definitely got something for stories related with forbidden love (even in post-apocalyptic worlds *winks at TLOU and Joellie*)Ā
Books talking about incest is not new to me. When I was younger I was reading fanfics about Tom and Bill (from Tokio Hotel) and even after years Iām still impacted with some of them stories as they were wonderfully developed.Ā
Back to Forbidden, I canāt imagine not crying at the ending, I have this foreboding itās not going to end well. I can feel it. Itās already risky where they are. They were already some impactful twists so far. Itās so well written, many many times my heart started to beat faster, each time they got closer (and I love that they get more and more close only bit by bit and sometimes itās one step forward two steps backward). I also feel really strange when Lochan is having a panic attack, it almost feels like Iām having one.Ā
Anyway, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars already. And Iām pretty it will overtake Alice Bliss (a book I read in May 2015) in the ranking.Ā
And also thereās something funny. My goal this year was to read 12 books. Before yesterday, I thought Iād fail since I had only read 11. So I had told myself fuck it I just want to read, it doesnāt matter if Iām in the middle of the 12 book. Haha. I think Iām going to complete it XD
