The Magicians - Syfy - oh man this show is good! Musical episodes that make sense, dialogue that sounds like how people of our age would talk without being embarrassing, majority of the main characters are gay to some extent but not in a shoe-horned way! Its graphically beautiful and emotionally and literately depthful. I cannot suggest this show enough, nor can I really do it justice explaining it, tbh!
Steven Universe - Cartoon Network - great art, great story telling, a male main character who feels openly, isn’t caught up in gender constructs or masculinity, believes everyone is good and can be helped, and is willing and able to to the right thing even when it hurts. On top of that, lots of emotional development and world consistency for the side characters, and “filler episodes” only make me love the series more!
Star Wars Rebels - Disney XD - Ok another great art/great storytelling. I’m gonna cry. I personally love the members of the Ghost Crew more than any of the original Star Wars characters, tbh. It’s beautiful, and painful, but you will be better off for it.
Killjoys - Syfy - God the dialogue is good here. Strong, POC, female lead with non-standard vulnerabilities and compelling backstory. The side characters get development and the world is consistent. Really good scifi pulp! The music and aesthetic is on point too! You need to look up shots from this show tbh, its too good. Also, all the incidental music is exposure for indie and small-name bands!
Darkmatter - Syfy - Okay this feels like a really good DnD campaign honestly! Every character has a unique and interesting story, you’ve got all the classes covered, the dialogue is natural and creative. It’s really good scifi with all the tropes you love and very few you hate! It’s a diverse crew, and it really feels natural! Seriously, if you wanna see some poc/gender representation that feels like it should be (ya know like the real world) then go watch, enjoy!
