I kinda miss big bad possessive stay-the-fuck-away-from-my-wife killer emperor
Kinda? honey I miss tf out of him
He was right, she was not fucking ready to join him on a campaign.
Physically? Yes, she’d been training with a lightsaber for a little over two years and had been well versed in weaponry for longer. Her use of the Force was strong, aided by her husband’s teaching and guidance.
But mentally? No, fuck no, she wasn’t prepared for this. The bloodshed, fine, not like it was new, not like she didn’t know it was coming. War games? Unfamiliar but still expected. Kylo turning into a raging animal with almost no resemblance to the man she’d grown to know?
Yeah, that was fucking her up.
She’d been on the same part of the battlefield as him once and, having borne witness to him all but transforming into something with almost no scrap of humanity left, she opted to stay with the war cabinet and plan their advancement. Luckily she had a decent understanding of their forces and the terrain, able to make sound judgment calls and helpful suggestions.
At night he would return to their shared quarters on the cruiser high above the planet’s atmosphere. He was always covered in blood, sweat, and grime. She didn’t know how many times she had to tell him she didn’t care whose fluids he had on him and was more upset by the fact that there were fluids, period.
He would scrub himself clean as best he could before crawling into bed beside her. Held tight in his arms, she knew she ought to feel safe, protected, that the beast was on her side, loved her unconditionally, but the fact that such a feral, violent creature lurked under his facade made her stomach sink. Her husband—forced husband, darling husband, frightening, monstrous husband—was probably the most vicious thing she’d ever seen and he loved her, deeply.
“You’re on edge,” Kylo’s voice rumbled behind her, reverberating against her back.
“I’m fine.”
“Rey.” He said it in a singsong, squeezing her tighter to his chest. “You’re lying to me.”
“Are you always like that in battle?”
“Like what?”
“Like a… Monster.”
“I don’t know. I don’t usually remember it much.”
“So you just go into a bloodlust and completely forget?”
“It sounds worse when you put it like that.”
“Have you always fought like that?”
“No.” He kissed the back of her neck and she, traitorous girl, leaned into it. “It’s worse when I’m protecting you.”
“I don’t need you to—”
“I know, I know, you’re more than capable of defending yourself, but it’s not about that. It’s about having someone I desperately want to keep safe. If you got so much as a scratch I can guarantee I’d paint the ground red.”
Against her better judgment, she decided to fight beside him the next morning. They were making good progress on the ground against separatist forces and she felt confident it wouldn’t be too brutal.
Damn was she wrong.
It didn’t matter how many she took down or disarmed, there were another ten soldiers to take their place. She could feel her arms growling numb as the adrenaline wore off and her overtaxed muscles began to scream for a reprieve.
One false step, one bad calculation, and blaster fire railed her in the side. She screamed as she went down, lightsaber knocked from her grasp.
Kylo, not even eight feet away, changed almost immediately, his expression from stoic to bloodthirsty. He called her fallen saber to himself and let it ignite into an adversary’s chest. His eyes went from alive to cold, demeanor distinctly animalistic. He bared his teeth and howled.
Several troopers assisted her to her feet, shields up to deflect any incoming fire. She heard Kylo’s rage more than she saw it, too dizzy to keep her eyes open. She was given a numbing agent and a small amount of bacta that wouldn’t do a thing. It was a few minutes before the clamor died so slightly and her demon of a man reappeared. He took her swiftly into his arms to a transport ship, snarling orders along the way.
“I’m going to mount his head on the wall,” he growled to her as they left orbit. “Or skin him into a rug.”
“Love, please—”
“No one injures my wife.” It was a roar, a snarl, a howl. “Absolutely no one.”
Rey tightened her grip around his neck, grateful for the contact. “I hate to admit, but that’s kind of hot in a way.”
The roughness left his voice. “I don’t understand.”
“It’s like, the amount you care really does something for me. I—you know what, I’ll explain when I’m healed.”
“I really don’t get the correlation.”
She nuzzled into his neck, closing her eyes. Not much longer until they reached the medbay. “I promise to tell you later, all right? I don’t want to give you any ideas now.”

Renperor prompt: Kylo's crying about sex and Rey is Comforting and Reaffirming him and Loving and it's all Emotions and Drama
My soft boi is only emotions and drama
It was happening too fast.
One moment he said something sweet to her, his arms around her waist, next she was kissing him hotly, fervently, pushing him down onto the bed. She was running her hands up his chest, down his thighs, into his hair. Her weight settled on top of his hips like an anchor. He was paralyzed. Stuck unable to move in a dissociative episode. A child afraid. He was going through motions he didn't know he'd memorized, shutting out emotions that threatened to surface. He—
He sat up forcefully, chest heaving. Panic rose like bile, bitter and sour and entirely unwelcome.
Rey, knocked to the floor from his abrupt movement, groaned. "You could have said no."
"What do you mean?"
"No? Two letter word? Means you're not having a good time?" She stood slowly, rubbing her back. She was only half dressed, clothes lost around the room in her hungry assault.
He felt uncomfortable looking at her, seeing her body. She raised her arms to tie her hair back and he glanced away from her breasts, embarrassed.
Rey sighed. "Are you going to tell me what you're thinking this time? Or are we going to forget I tried again?"
"We'll forget."
She nodded after a long silence. "Okay. I'm going to go to bed, then. Unless you want me to stay?"
"I'd prefer if you didn't."
He averted his eyes as she gathered her clothes and left without a word, turning the lights off as she went. She didn't have to ask; this scenario had played out so many times already.
She got close to him, physically, emotionally, and then he drew back. Immediately, viciously. The second she slipped her fingers under his robes he felt exposed, disgusted, uncomfortable. The touching, the closeness, the—
Intimacy.
He hated it.
Detested.
It made him feel so...weak, vulnerable, surrounded. No matter her intention, he couldn't help but feel cornered like an injured animal in a small cage, lashing and growling and hissing until the hands reaching towards him drew back. Her intentions were well-meaning, but he felt at though she were lying to him, spinning deceitful webs. Like she would discard him after she cracked open his shell to get at his soft flesh.
He lay awake for hours, panic subsiding so slowly, so miserably. He'd be a wreck in the morning but what else was new? He was always a wreck, only sometimes he hid it better.
She sat across from him when he took breakfast. She knew he was miserable and exhausted but didn't mention it, didn't allude to his latest, greatest failure to please his wife. He was grateful she never seemed to dwell on it, though the brief glimpses he'd seen into her psyche said this hurt her, a lot. She didn't understand why she wasn't good enough, or how to be better, not grasping the true issue behind this mess: him. It was never her fault, not once.
"Can I sleep with you tonight?"
She was hesitant to enter his bedroom, hand gripping the doorframe until her knuckles turned white.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course I'm sure or else I wouldn't have asked."
"You may, then."
She was quiet until he turned out his light, stirring to life when he rolled onto his side, back to her. Her arms, small, delicate, powerful, wrapped around his waist. She pressed her cheek to his back. "Can we talk about last night?"
"What is there to talk about?"
"Your....issue."
Kylo's skin prickled. "I don't have an issue."
"You do. It's like you're afraid of me, or of my body, I can't tell."
"Your body?"
"You never look at me when I undress. I have had a lot of men stare at me nude so trust me, I notice you're not." She took a deep breath in. "Am I not...enough for you?"
"Of course you're enough."
"Then why don't you look at me? Or let me touch you?"
His voice grew small. "Because I'm not enough."
"What?"
"Because I'm not good enough and I feel... terrible to be on the receiving end of your affection." His eyes were hot, throat so painfully tight. "Like an imposter."
"Sweetheart." She held him tighter. "You know I—"
"Don't fucking say it."
"Fine, I have feelings for you. Strong ones. Real ones. Feelings that make me want to sit down and talk it out every time you flinch away from me like I've threatened you with a hot poker." Her lips were like cool rain on his neck. "I want to give you me, my heart, in exchange for yours. You must understand that by now, right?"
He felt the sob in his throat and choked it down. She noticed anyway, sharp girl. Knowing his stubbornness, she climbed over him in order to face him, to pull his hands away from his tear-soaked eyes.
"Kylo."
"Please don't."
"Kylo."
"I'm not—"
She weaseled her way under his defences, she always did. "I'm not mad. Or disappointed. Or going to leave you for someone who doesn't need time. I'm going to stay here, with you, until you're comfortable."
"What if that takes an eternity?"
"Then I guess I'm going to be here for an eternity, aren't I?" She kissed his brow, his cheek, and locked her arms around him. "We can start small, soft."
"I'd like that." He couldn't get close enough to her, couldn't figure out how to lace himself under her bones. This would have to do for now. "Thank you....for being patient with me."
She chuckled, snuggling in. "What kind of lover would I be if I weren't?"
Killer emperor teaching Rey how to use the force?!
aka how they ended up with a Force bond đź‘€
He felt the surge before the main power blew, the stampeding force of electricity that bellowed and promptly halted. It was so quiet on the ship, every machine dead where it sat. The backup generators kicked on within seconds, but he was on edge now, listening for the next departure from normality.
Rey—usually aloof, not easy to startle—was latched to his arm like velcro, fear pouring off her in waves. She was sensitive to the Force but not trained and he could only imagine how that energy swell had felt.
“It’s okay.” He struggled to loosen his arm from her grip.
“It’s really not.”
He glanced around the upper deck, being certain they were alone before lowering to his knees. “It’ll be fine, I promise. Here, sit with me.”
She did so reluctantly. Hesitant and cautious, she crouched down across from him.
“No, closer.” He held out his hand to her until she took it, pulling her into his lap. Their physical intimacy was still budding, still new, but she’d expressed a need to feel safe a few weeks ago, had admit his touch calmed her down, but she was uncomfortable to ask. She didn’t like to need things.
He completely understood that sentiment.
Arms around her waist, he held her tightly. “Close your eyes and focus on me.”
“What do you mean focus? How am I supposed to—”
“I picked you because you’re Force sensitive. And I’d pick you again even if you weren’t, but this is a good lesson in calming down. Focus on my heartbeat, my breathing. Tell me what you notice.”
“It’s slow. Very slow.”
“What else?”
“It’s warm.” She inhaled sharply and he could feel her reaching out to him. “Childlike, somehow innocent but dark. Jaded.”
“I’m going to open my mind to you, all right? Focus on me.”
“Okay.”
With a deep breath, he let the floodgates open.
Her fingers dug into his sleeves and he heard her gasp before he felt her presence. She was a soft light, sweet, inviting. As he knew she’d be. A traumatized little girl, she’d grown into such a fierce, protective young woman. Jealous, though. Far more jealous than he’d have thought, which warranted a laugh.
“It’s not funny,” she bit, forced to re-experience the memory.
“I think it’s hilarious. Were you really that jealous of the duchess from Taris?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Rey sighed. “Because she’s pretty and she had your attention and you seemed engaged in the conversation. And because I don’t know what I’m doing when it comes to rubbing elbows and I don’t understand all of this etiquette and all these people make you smile so easily and I barely manage to get you to do it.”
“One, I don’t care if you rub elbows or break them. Two, I don’t understand the etiquette myself. And three, do you really think I’m giving those people a genuine smile?”
“You’re not?”
“Of course I’m not, I save them for you.” He kissed the back of her neck, feeling her settle more comfortably in his arms. “They’re not deserving of my smiles.”
Something in the Force had begun to blossom between them. He felt it spark strongly when the main power returned, a current of surprise and joy running across his skin, the feeling distinctly hers. It was heady, overwhelming, and pleasantly warm.
“Should we get up? Do they need you elsewhere?”
“We’re fine at the moment.” He pulled her tighter to his chest, the elation only half his own. Was this what it was like, to be happy without cause? “Be with me for a few minutes more.”
YES! I love that rey is a good strategist! Prompt: rey kicks ass in the war room and kylo’s never been more in love
YES! Big agree! Big fucking mood!
Direct follow up from the last one
The senior cabinet was really starting to get on her nerves. They were trying their best to imply, vaguely, that the inexperienced young empress was in no position to plan an offensive strategy, and she was damn sick of their assumptions. Rey did not waste hours of her life going over war games with Hux just to sit at the edge of the round table and rot. They thought the fact she charged after the emperor when he (rather recklessly) joined the fray meant she was overly susceptible to her emotions. But they never claimed Kylo to be the rash, emotional one, which was rich.
Right on time, Kylo entered the cabinet's room on the destroyer. His face was tinged red, overheating from the temperature change. He had yet to shuck his armor, glossy black shoulder plates strapped on top of a thick fur-lined cloak. "Where's Hux?"
One of the senior-most members spoke first. "The General disobeyed orders and took a field army to the mountain region—"
"Disobeyed whose orders?"
"Ours."
"I asked him to." Rey said from the back of the room where she'd been sulking. "We're only hitting one of the planet's sentient inhabitants by attacking above ground."
Kylo, annoyed, whipped his attention to the table. "I've said this a thousand times over, in my absence her word is final. Do I have to start breaking bones to get my point across?"
Mumbles of no, your highness went around the room.
"Good, glad we could clear up this misunderstanding. I pray there are no repeats." He took his place at the head of the table, frowning at the holoprojection of the real-time battle on the surface. "Rey, join us please, I want to hear your thoughts."
She moved to stand beside him, hovering at his elbow.
"You said we're only hitting one group?"
"Yes, there's another species of sentient on Elom. They're ground-dwelling, we picked them up with sonar." She reached to the holo, zooming in on a location far to the east. "I sent Hux here, where there's a clear opening into the earth. The two species don't interact much so we don't have much information aside from what the reconnaissance team managed to find."
"And the current siege, do you have any recommendations?"
She crossed her arms, thinking. "From what I understand of the culture, it's unlikely they'll back down. It might be worth it to bring out the heavy artillery now, or at least threaten it."
Kylo rested a hand on the small of her back when he addressed the cabinet. "Prepare to switch tactics to a more offensive approach, and I want an airborne unit supporting Hux. I'll be taking a TIE squadron planetside to the capital." He tugged on her waist for her to follow. "If any of you have an issue with her decisions you come to me first, understand? And I don't want to hear it unless it's a grave error."
The chatter in the war room was cut off when they entered the hallway, doors clamping shut.
"You never cease to surprise me." He took her hand and gave it a squeeze, fingers laced with her. "That was brilliant. The type of thinking we need from strategists."
She beamed and tugged for him to stop. She freed her hand in order to wrap her arms around his neck. "Yeah?"
"Absolutely, there's a reason I want you to take my place when it comes to planning." He kissed her once, twice, hands on her waist.
She let him back her against the wall for kisses three, four five, six—
"No, no, we need to stop or we'll both get sidetracked." Kylo pulled back and took her hand again, ushering her to the turbolift to their quarters. "Do you want to come with me? I know it's been ages since you flew in combat."
"I appreciate the offer but my ribs are still sore from yesterday and I don't think it'll feel very pleasant."
"Understandable, though I do so miss having you on my squadron." He keyed into their rooms. "I'm going to change and go straight back out. Do you need anything in the meantime?"
"A kiss or two wouldn't hurt."
He rolled his eyes but obliged with a smile. It was more than two, though, her teeth dragging along his lips, fingers tangled in each other's hair, his knee between her legs—
"You're going to be the death of my self-control," he said after he broke away. "Go before I get distracted again."
"Just one more? Please?"
He kissed her nose and pushed her out of the room. "Sweetheart, leave, I'm begging you, I have things to get done."
She could feel his lovesick giddiness bubbling up over their bond and she grinned to herself the whole way back to the war room.
What does rey actually do as empress? I can’t imagine her just being arm candy, she’s too smart for that
Pretty as he finds her, she does not have a single other quality that would make her a good trophy wife, what with the whole "slave from a desert world" childhood.
She spends a lot of time in the beginning of their marriage learning how to be an empress. How to be poised and graceful but cunning, well-spoken but careful with her words, fair and kind but mindful of every action. She has to learn about all the political factions in and out of the empire, which noble families support her husband and which do not, neutral parties with great sway in the economy, important businessmen, senators, philanthropists. Her head is spinning daily with all she's being asked to cram into it.
She's still not fully comfortable mingling in formal settings by herself, but she's a good listener and is quick to read people and their intentions. He recognizes this and will have her act like arm candy in order to pick apart a conversation and determine just how many lies someone is trying to feed Kylo.
It comes out that she's rather useful in the war room and is a talented strategist. He trusts her opinions on tactics more than the majority of his advisors and will let her make the final decision most of the time. She's a pretty ferocious fighter but will hang back to oversee the orchestration of an attack rather than join her extremely vicious husband on the battlefield.
She's busy being the voice of reason to his impulsive planning. They're almost never seen apart once she fully accepts her role at his side.

Prompt: while you’re on a soft boi roll can we get renperor patching up rey’s wounds?
YOU. your soft renperor prompt is in character, you get it
"You're an idiot."
"Me? I'm the idiot here? Even when you're the one bleeding?"
"If you hadn't rushed the, the—"
"Cherfar."
"If you didn't run at them like a lunatic, I wouldn't have had to chase after you."
"I would have been fine."
Rey howled as he set one of her ribs, bones on fire. "Your instance only strengthens the fact that you're an idiot."
They where in orbit around Elom, a resource-rich planet that Kylo had no desire to play nice with after a rather fruitless attempt to negotiate. Of course, he could never let his troops do things themselves and always had to be in the middle of the fight. Now deemed adequate with a lightsaber, Rey found herself running after him more often than not. Much to her chagrin.
So she got bruised and beat up on campaign frequently these days. This time happened to be a little worse with the broken bones and Kylo's continued aggression. She wanted to chalk it up to the fact that using light-sider techniques always made him irritable, but this was a little too on edge, even for him.
He knit the tissue of the last bone together. "You're free to go now."
She didn't even have the energy to prop herself up after that. "You know damn well that I can't stand up right now."
"Oh, right."
He sat down and motioned for her to lay her head in his lap.
"I worry about you, when you do these reckless things."
"I was only following because I was worried about you."
"And you shouldn't be."
"But I am."
Kylo sighed. "Please promise me you'll be careful at least? I don't know what I'll do if I lose you."
"You'd fly into a rage."
"Yes, I know that part. I meant... personally. I don't think I can continue on in this miserable world without you." He ducked to kiss her forehead. "You're very important to me. Please try to keep yourself safe."
"All right, I'll take better care of my flesh prison."
"Rey, I mean it."
She sought out his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "I will, I promise."
For your consideration, Renperor's empress Rey, being the sand goblin is she, is frighteningly possessive about her husband. She won't admit to it ever, but he probably finds it cute
Oooo I love and miss your killer emperor series, hope you continue it one day!!! đź’–
Thanks! I pretty much add to it whenever I get an inbox prompt for it. It's like a side project that's easy and fun to come back to since it's all vignettes
Weddings were a bore. Especially his.
This night couldn't get stuffier even if he locked himself in a ventless broom closet full of musty wool coats. The whole thing was riding on a high of tradition, formality, and a lack of emotions.
His parents married for love, somehow finding each other in their vastly different lives, but he had chosen convenience. He picked the first Force user he came upon and bribed her out of one misery and into another. She was timid out of necessity though there was kindling hiding behind a well-maintained mask. He'd watched her emotions slip once or twice during their extremely brief engagement and he had to wonder what she'd be like tonight. Angry or soft? Relieved or anguished?
For, he figured, this must be torture. If not the conclusion, then definitely the preparation. He was about ready to tear his own eyeballs out of his skull as—
"Ow." Kylo yanked his arm away from one of the seamstresses using him as a pincushion. "Careful with those things."
The creature snapped at him in her mother tongue and he bit back, thoroughly irritated. If one more needle stuck him, he was going to lose his temper.
"Can we start this damn ordeal already?"
"Your bride isn't ready yet." Hux flanked him as he trudged down the corridor to the east wing's turbolift bay. "And unfortunately, we cannot begin until all parties have arrived."
"It's not like it's a real wedding."
His chief advisor—childhood rival, bitter nemesis, best friend—let out a heavy sigh, shoulders crippled with the weight. "Not that you care, but with the media, guests in attendance, and lengths to which we've all gone to hide this girl's upbringing, I will be the first to die on the hill of this being a real wedding. I am also never planning one of these ever again, so if you divorce her, you're on your own for the next one."
"I'm not doing this twice."
"That might be your first rational thought of the evening, congratulations."
Hux left him when they entered the grand hall, Kylo taking his place on the dias at the end of the room. This was supposed to be a smaller ceremony, but the number of guests was much higher than he'd anticipated. There must have been at least three hundred already seated with time to spare. Gazing into the crowd, he wondered what his parents would have thought, if they would have been proud, or disappointed.
He filtered his musings out when the harp began, low and graceful. Timeless. The girl had no one to escort her down the aisle, or to give her away to him, but she had a newfound confidence that made it seem unnecessary. As though she were offering herself by her own choice and not an arrangement.
Her dress was simple, contrasting his heavily-embroidered robes. It was modest and understated. Elegant. A cape of chiffon cascaded from her shoulders to join the train behind. Jewels were woven into her hair, a small circlet with a red stone complementing the blue of his own headdress.
Instinctively, unthinkingly, he extended his hand to her when she ascended to stand before him, beside him.
"Sorry it took so long," she said softly, voice under the officiant's. "They wanted to redo my hair a few times."
"It looks lovely."
She blushed and muttered a thank you, her eyes elsewhere.
And, for the first time since pulling her out of the sand, he wanted to get to know her, understand her, until there was nothing left to learn.
