Ruben's thoughts on leftovers past two days
on a normal day: he will just about tolerate it for certain foods, provided there’s not anything that will go off very quickly in them and they’ve been refrigerated properly, but ruben’s also a thoughtful sort of lad who remembers to freeze batches of leftovers rather than just leaving them in the fridge
when he’s working on an Important Project: he will find that carton of three day old noodles on his desk under a pile of paperwork and he will eat them because if he stands up and goes to the kitchen for even one minute that means that he isn’t Doing The Science
Okay! I’m supposed to be working on a paper but I’ve also wanted to write a long post for @kikabennet, @tiredalwavs, @thisstableground, and @pika-ace.
I want to talk about what I like about each Ruben (how he is portrayed in fic)
Kikabennet/Tiredalwavs: I really enjoy that Ruben’s scars are not just deliberate cuts. They are signs of rage and abuse and accident chemical burn. I really like that Ruben has curly hair and a stutter and that he is very shy but there is always a glimmer of joy to him. He is very much healing. I also enjoy his situation that Ian is still sort of in control of him and he’s suffering Stockholm Syndrome to a degree b/c it will make the healing that much more rewarding for the reader.
Thisstableground: I really enjoy that Ruben still has sass and he seems to have escaped Jamaica with more confidence and heals emotionally faster (I think there’s probs stuff I miss from the UVR-I’m going by solo Ruben fic). I like that Ruben’s scars are very internal and he has much to work through. I also really like that he’s kept very similar to DNH hc. While Ruben in RACD is semi OOC, it makes sense b/c he’s a changed person, but this Ruben is very well to keep true to the source material since he’s healing better.
Pika-ace: Your Ruben is new to me, but I really enjoy him. His trauma has turned very nurturing (towards Usnavi and Sonny) and the idea of him as a high school teacher just warms my heart. I was also going through asks and saw Ruben has blue eyes in your AU which I LOVE. Blue eyed Ruben.
I just wanted to give a shout out to all of the hard working DNH authors!

Have you ever gotten a Supernatural AU ask? Usnavi and Sonny hunting demons and Ruben as their tag along socially awkward guardian angel?
I have actually, but, not gonna lie, Ruben as Castiel is the missing piece to the puzzle that this AU needed!
Ruben saves Usnavi from hell and slowly grows to care for Usnavi and Sonny as their (unofficial) guardian angel and helps them stop the apocalypse! It’s perfect!!
Also, with the whole vessel thing, we could make it so that Ruben’s vessel was going through some rough shit too, so he’d GLADLY give up his body to an angel if it means getting him away from Ian. We can also have Ian be some higher up angel in heaven who treats Ruben like garbage, so this garden is PLENTIFUL with angst and hurt/comfort :3

☕hot coffee: what's your drink this fall?--- I'm a peppermint mocha girl. Now made with almond milk as a result of tummy issues 😣 (I loathe pumpkin spice)
🌱 cinnamon: what are your favorite spices?--- I love tumeric, gumbo file, anything from Asian/Indian food, I will sprinkle Tony Chachere's on anything that stays still long enough, not big on jalapeno weirdly enough..... Oh and @kikabennet s deadly jerk chicken- you will die happy!

What is your least favorite thing to draw? (backgrounds, fingers, people riding bicycles, ect)
you nailed 2/3 with that one! backgrounds and people on bikes are nightmares, but I actually love drawing hands!
i’m working on drawing better backgrounds, but I also don’t like drawing animals and shoulders. i hate shoulders.
Had the loveliest chat with @kikabennet about Ruben Marcado (Do No Harm series played by Lin Manuel Miranda) and she came up with such hilarious stuff that I spit soda all over my screen.

Thank you :o) It is a little scary (but then I’m a scaredycat for most things and pretty much constantly nervous, so) but I’ll manage. Or be less of a disaster than usual I’m not exactly married, though - it’s more like a civil union. We do introduce the other as “my husband” and “my wife”, though, hence the “exactly”.
