(If you want silly notes at the beginning of the fics, you must visit the link!! heehhe)
I
The first time that Kidd had given Felix a hug had been in their first year of middle school. The two werenât in even remotely the same classes, given that Felix was in accelerated courses, and Kidd, well, wasnât. But they did see each other whenever Felix needed Kidd to do something for him.Â
This had been one of those times, they met outside of the large building that looked more like a brick than a school building. Kidd fiddled with his sleeves as he waited for Felix to find him. He was told to stand under a large tree in the courtyard - not by Felix obviously, but by Monty, - and wait for orders.
Kidd didnât really care about being used for favors more than his company, he didnât have many friends who didnât treat him like this, and it was normal. The only one who didnât need anything from him was normally Billy, but he still needed a favor once and awhile.Â
Though it wasnât like he was being taken advantage of, he got things in return for his charity, you couldnât call it charity if you got something back could you?Â
Whilst he sat there fiddling with his sleeves, and wishing he had worn a thicker sweater today, he saw a familiar blue dress shirt.Â
This was the first time that Teddy hadnât been brought along to the âmeetings,â they had. Given that Theodore was technically Felixâs assistant.Â
The lone twin walked over to Kidd, avoiding dirtying his shoes by stepping through the grass, (god forbid he scuff his loafers.)
âKidd,â Felix nodded at him, straightening out his tie as he did. âFelix.â Kidd said, leaving his sleeve alone, and facing the other.Â
âI have called you here to request if you could give this to thatâŚBrenon boy in your English class.â Felix pulled out an expensive looking yo-yo, which was for Jerome. Kidd nodded, pocketing it in the messenger bag he carried around with him.Â
âAndâŚ.?â Kidd asked as he closed the opening of the bag, waiting until he heard the button click to let go and look at the other. Felix let out a sigh that was supposed to be in annoyance Kidd guessed, it didnât sound like it though.Â
âAnd,â Felix pulled an apple flavored sucker, or as he would call it a lollipop. âThis is from Teddy, he said it would be enough payment.âÂ
Kidd took the sucker faster than he had taken the yoyo by levels. He looked it over, it was just a dum-dum, but he was aggressively happy, to the point that he was overtaken with emotion.Â
Whenever he would normally get happy, he would smile, maybe giggle a little, but he couldnât help himself from giving the other boy a hug.Â
He wrapped his arms around Felix, and the other stiffened. Kidd immediately backed off, and cleared his throat.Â
âS- sorry, Felix.â He clutched the sucker in his hand harder, like he was afraid the other would take it from him.Â
When he was met with the otherâs eyes, they werenât full of hate, or even discomfort, the other wasâŚ.blushing.Â
âItâs,â he cleared his throat, and brushed off his shirt. âItâs fine, good day.â The boy turned and walked back to the building, still avoiding the dirt.Â
Kidd pocketed the sucker, and walked back the other direction, he had been skipping math, and was sure to be reprimanded as he came back, but it was worth it.Â
II
The next time the two shared a hug was less happy. It was actually kinda sad when Kidd thought back on it.Â
It had been eighth grade graduation, and Felix had been boasting for the last month about some merger his father was letting him oversee over the summer. This was apparently a very big project for the heir, and Kidd blindly nodded along anytime he mentioned it.Â
Felix and Teddy had been taking a picture, taken by their step-mother, who had taught Felix and Kidd in kindergarten for a while.Â
Their father soon came over, and said something to the two of them, looking over at Teddy like he hung the stars and moon, and patting Felix on the shoulder.Â
Kidd hadnât been stalking the twins by any means, he had just happened to look over from his spot next to their valedictorian, Penny, and seen the scene.Â
After the pat on the shoulder, Felix squinted his eyes, and pulled away from his father, muttering something under his breath as he walked away, steam practically coming out of his ears. Teddy had tried going after him, but their father had held him back.
Kidd quickly mumbled some form of goodbye to Penny as he felt the need to go check up the other boy. He moved as fast as the annoying dress shoes his mother had put him in would allow him to.Â
Whenever he caught up to Felix, the other was sitting on a small bench. He was looking up at the sky and letting out a string of muttered curses as he did.Â
Kidd lingered for a second, almost thinking about going back to Penny, or striking conversation with Jerome or Carla, but he finally walked over, and sat next to Felix.Â
âGreetings, Kidd.â Felix said, his voice slightly constricted, sniffing slightly.Â
Kidd didnât know what to do when people cried, he himself didnât cry often, and he didnât even know how to help himself then, what was he to do with another person?
âDo youâŚwanna talk about it?â Kidd blinked, and didnât look over to Felix, he didnât think that was a good idea.Â
Felix sighed, and crossed his legs over one another straightening his back.Â
âTeddy will be doing the merger this summer.â He said that with finality.Â
Kidd did what his mother did when he was sad about something, and placed his arm around Felixâs shoulders, the other stiffed, but slowly relaxed and sniffed again.Â
III
Kidd didnât know why he had been invited to this party. It wasnât some high school party thrown by one of the seniors or anything, he wouldnât be caught dead at one of those unless he was being paid.Â
Felix had invited him to a party that was in a hotel, the biggest one in Tampa, a city they didnât live in.Â
And it was less of a party, and more of a charity gala he soon realized.Â
âI would like you to attend aâŚparty with me at the Bay Hotel in Tampa this Saturday if youâre free.â Felix had approached him in their shared art class, the only non accelerated class that Felix was taking their sophomore year.
âSure, sounds nice.â Kidd said, not looking up from the clay he had been forming.Â
Felix had picked him up at 3 pm, chastised him for the outfit he was wearing, and made him put on the suit that Felix had made. He had apparently known Kidd wouldnât be properly dressed. He would have been if Felix hadnât lied to his face.Â
They drove the hour to Tampa, Kidd uncomfortable in the suit, and Felix looking out the window occasionally fixing his cuff links.Â
As they approached the hotel that Felix had called the bay, Kidd was slightly shocked at the size of it. It was the biggest Hotel in Florida, but still, he was accustomed to Hiltons with shitty indoor pools, not resorts with its pools lining the sides, and windows going up hundreds of stories.Â
âWhat kind of party is this Felix?â Kidd asked, after getting out of the car, his joints slightly cracking. Felix was talking to his driver about where to park the car until eight that night, when theyâd return.Â
The blonde looked over to Kidd, and seemed confused. âParty?â He gave his full attention to Kidd. âIâm decently sure I said Gala, didnât I?â Felix pronounced Gala as gay-la.Â
Felix seemed to think this was the funniest thing on earth, given the fact that he had only giggled slightly at Kidd's expression, and told him to hurry along as he walked faster.Â
The âgala,â started at five thirty, so Felix had rented out a room in the hotel, which cost more a night than his rent did. Kidd felt slightly bad for making Felix spend so much on a room they would stay in for a full half-hour.Â
But then he remembered that Felix was insanely rich, and could probably buy the hotel if he really wanted to.Â
And that was how he ended up sitting at a clothed table, drinking sparkling apple cider out of a champagne glass, and spacing out.Â
He had âdone the rounds,â as Felix had put it. Mostly standing at Felixâs side while he talked to influential figures, Felix did roll his eyes more and more after every one, and Kidd had chosen to sit down after Felix had told him he had to, because he had to go donate to the cause of whatever this stupid thing was about.Â
Soon enough, Felix sat next to him, adjusting his tie, and reaching for his own sparkling cider, or what Kidd had assumed was sparking cider, the boy could have been drinking hard liquor and Kidd probably wouldnât have noticed.Â
âAre you enjoying yourself?â Felix asked, looking over, his hair slightly covering his eye as he did. It wasnât slicked back, even though Felix always slicked his hair back for formal events. At least for school dances.Â
Kidd fixed the hair, patting it in place and gazing in the otherâs eyes. âSure.âÂ
Felix flushed at that, and cleared his throat looking away. âWell, I apologize if youâre not.â His tone took a more serious note. âI would not have been able to attend if I didnât bring a plus-one, and Teddy isnât talking to me.â He reasoned, and Kidd nodded.Â
He knew the two were on bad terms, and that Teddy had gotten meaner as he got older. Felix was seemingly lightening up, but leaving Theodore in the darkness.Â
âItâs okay, itâs for charity right?â Kidd knew it was, given the donation, but he thought he would ask.Â
âYes, itâs for malaria patients in the east.â He looked over to the vocal point of the room, a tall brunette woman. âMy father works with her, she runs the charity. We attend every year.âÂ
As Kidd was going to ask more questions, the string quartet that was playing in the corner had begun playing a smooth slow song, and the attendees, all dressed to the nines, partnered up.Â
Felix looked longingly at a couple, and Kidd felt the need to do something about that.Â
He stood, brushed off his suit which had a few crumbs on it from a pastry he had been served earlier, and held his hand out to Felix.Â
The other looked confused, but took Kiddâs hand anyway. He was pulled up, and brought a few feet in front of the table.Â
Kidd wrapped his arms around Felixâs neck, and Felix wrapped his around Kiddâs waist. They swayed to the music, and ended practically holding each other.Â
IIII
Kidd was insanely tired as he walked around the gymnasium floor. He had been at the stupid prom thing for five hours, since seven, and it was nearing midnight now, and he was almost dead on his feet.Â
He wasnât used to socializing this much, and he sure wasnât used to dancing.Â
For their junior prom the group, him, Lilly, Billy, Nugget, and Penny, had decided that they should dance their asses off, separating every song and dancing with someone else.Â
Penny had left at nine when Carla, Monty, and Jerome did. She was car pooling with the three, and was spending the night with Carla. Kidd wished he had asked for a ride along.Â
Lilly and Billy were relentless, they danced for three hours, and then sat in the math room with their shoes off drinking punch and talking. Kidd didnât know this, and was dancing with Nugget while they did that.Â
Nugget then left, promptly saying that âNuggetâs mama had wanted Nugget home by ten.â Kidd walked him out to the doors, and went back inside. His ride was Billy, and seemingly they were staying until the staff kicked them all out.Â
There were a few stragglers at midnight, Davey and Austin were still there, but Austin was with the band, and Davey was like the number one groupie so of course he stayed and danced along the whole time. Kidd thought it was sweet for the boyfriend to be so supportive, Kidd didnât feel lonely at all.Â
Ozzy and Teddy hadnât even made an appearance, so he wasnât surprised to not see them anywhere. Though he was surprised to see Felix was still here.Â
They had danced earlier, and then Felix had stated that he was getting a ride with Cindy and going home. Cindy was passed out on the bleachers with Felixâs jacket over her covering her shoulders.Â
Buggs had spiked the punch a few hours ago, and Cindy apparently had a whole bunch.Â
Kidd wandered over to Felix like a moth to light, he didnât say anything as he sat next to him, and laid his head on the otherâs shoulder wrapping his arm around Felixâs waist. Felix patted Kiddâs head, and Kidd fell asleep shortly afterwards.
V
Kidd was surprised to be awoken from his sleeping in class by Jerome yelling in his ear. Jerome wasnât quiet, but he was soft spoken, and rarely yelled anymore.Â
âGet up!â Kidd slightly jumped at the tone of the otherâs voice, and wiped his mouth as he did such. Jerome walked away after that, and found interest talking with Monty.Â
Kidd blinked and wondered what he had been woken up for, given it was history, and they had a substitute, not like Kidd did much history work anymore, too busy working on college admission essays.Â
âYes?â Kidd yelled out at Jerome, who stopped talking abruptly and turned in his chair, he jerked his hand in the direction of the door.Â
As Kidd followed the direction, and was met with a familiar blonde haired boy in the doorway. Kidd tilted his head, and slowly got up.Â
He asked the sub if he could go to the bathroom, the man did not look up from his book and nodded.Â
âFelix?â Kidd asked as he opened the door, and closed it behind him. Felix walked back, away from the window to the classroom, and Kidd followed.Â
âI overheard from Brennon earlier that today was your birthday.â Felix started. Kidd had almost forgotten it was his birthday, mainly because it wasnât friday, which was the current day, and was actually on saturday. But that didnât seem to matter to Jeorme.Â
Felix cleared his throat, which Kidd had come to recognize as a nervous tick the other had. âAnd I passed by the florist on my way here, so I thought IâdâŚâ
He thrusted the bouquet into Kiddâs hands, Kidd almost dropped them in the fast exchange, but balanced them in his hands.Â
They were white Lilies mixed with hydrangeas, they were real and fresh from the moisture that got onto his shirt.Â
Kidd could tell that Felix hadnât just picked these up, they were from the store that Emmy worked at, and they were custom because of the green tie that kept the stems together.Â
Kidd smelled them, and Felix almost made a quip about it, but Kidd silenced him by pulling him into a hug. The other once again stiffened, and then relaxed, lightly hugging back.Â
âThank you.â Kidd said, giving him not only a hug, but also a kiss on the cheek.Â
Felix walked down the hallway cursing, and blushing so much his ears were a bright red.Â
He was assisted by his mom on how to put the flowers in water.Â
I
It was their first year in college, they had both wound up going to the same university in Jacksonville, for completely different reasons.Â
Kiddâs mom had gone to the college, and they had a nice marketing program, Felix on the other hand had been forced to go wherever he got a scholarship from by his father. Mr. Huxley had seemingly cut him off.Â
The second semester was going, and Kidd was working on some research paper on the history of marketing in China. He had been held up in his dorm all day, and was ignorant to the date.Â
Even with his roommate off on a date, and the campus having hearts all over the place, he had completely forgotten the holiday that was that Saturday.Â
It could have been Christmas, and he still would have worked, and completely forgotten the world around him. He had a pension for doing that all the time.Â
When there was a knock at the door, Kidd almost choked on his red bull, and pulled his head phones off faster than he ever had. His roommate had a key, so they didnât knock, and he had recognized the pattern.Â
It was Felix.Â
Three fast taps, and one lingering one.Â
Kidd opened the door, and there was Felix, in his normal attire, blue shirt, and black pants that fit him a little too tightly given the no more tailoring of his clothes.Â
Felix saw him, and nodded fast. âHello,â He said, giving a small smile.Â
âHi Felix.â Kidd quickly said, nodding back. He felt a little awkward, he was in a school hoodie and sweat pants, he felt insanely underdressed.Â
âI have come for our previously agreed upon arrangement,â He looked down, his smoke growing. âYou donât seem too prepared.âÂ
âHuh?â Kidd said he had no such knowledge of a previous arrangement, well except for the date they were supposed to go on valentines day, but that was like nextâŚ.
Today, that was in fact today.Â
âShit,â Kidd groaned, âSorry Felix, I got wrapped up with work, and I -âÂ
He was abruptly cut off by the embrace of the other. Felixâs arms wrapping around him tightly, his head going to the juncture between Kiddâs neck and shoulder.Â
Kidd hugged him back, and Felix didnât let go, he stood there, they hugged in the doorway to his dormitory, and then Felix gave him a kiss, and told him Happy Valentines.Â
