two by two
Hazel had decided to branch out a little from her usual leisure activities. Setting aside her copy of Ulysses - well-loved, though still immaculate - she had taken it upon herself to begin a foray into podcasts. Many of the younger students were fond of them, and it would give her eyes a rest after long hours spent poring over lecture notes and request forms. The recent influx of new students had produced a sheer mountain of paperwork - bizarre requests, class options, and more besides - and she’d had little time to herself these past few days. Thus, the vampire had cleared a few hours of her evening to spend time alone and away from her work. It would be... bliss.
She had drawn a bath, revelling in the warm steam that filled her bathroom, and had just begun to unlace her brogues to begin the process of removing her day’s attire when there was a knock at the door. Hazel’s stomach sank, and she allowed herself an internal sigh before composing herself and re-tying the lace. In a light tone, she called out, “Feel free to enter!” She could only hope that this intrusion would be a swift stranger, or a dear friend. Her bath would be most unpleasant if it was allowed to cool down.
