Kid Bones, who immidiatlly connects with Nyota and refuses to leave her side. who will start crying if she has to leave him, because she is his favorite person in the world and he doesn’t want her to go.

Kid Bones, who sits on top of everything beside Keesner and watches Scotty Work when he has gotten comfertable with the rest of the crew. Who refuses to get down when Scotty tells him, and is a huge pain for a kid who will grow up to be ‘Ship Dad’

Kid Bones, Who sits on Sulu’s lap and listens to him and Chekov talking to each other while he watches Sulu fly the ship through space. While he watches the way Sulu’s fingers dance across his concile, taping away at buttons, pulling down levers and making the ship move with surprising ease.

Kid Bones, who has the biggest smile on his face when Nurse Chaple is checking up on him, and who has all of the questions in the world for her. Who won’t stop asking about everything she’s doing, all the tools she’s using, and absolutly everything to do with Medical. Who, even in kid form, likes to sneak into his office and fall asleep (except in kid form he falls asleep under the desk).

Kid Bones, who turns his nose up when Spock trys to teach him Chess, and instead convinces Spock to play old earth games with him. Games like ‘Operation’ and ‘risk’. Who only agrees to play ‘logical games’ with Spock when Spock offers to sit with him on the floor and proimises to play his Vulcan Lyre after the game. Who is insanly smart when it comes to things he’s interested in and can talk circles around Spock in certain subkects, but has no interest in learning about other things, just like his older self. Who tells Spock that he doesn’t need to learn science or languages, because he’s going to be a doctor and all of his skills should go to that so he can be the best, while others focus on the things they enjoy so they can be the best in their field (and Spock can’t really argue with that)

Kid Bones who plays pranks Kirk and M’Benga because they’ll find a way to pay him back. Who steals Jim’s chair on the bridge whenever he stands up, and looks up at him proudly while Jim sputters and tries to convince himself to actually get the tiny doctor out of his chair so he can sit down (but he’s so cute!!! and if the crew has a few pictures of Bones napping in Jim’s chair, while that’s not their fault. they couldn’t resist.)

Kid Bones, who hides in small spaces when he’s upset or overwhelmed, because it’s quiet and guarantees that he won’t be found for a while so he can calm down. Who cringes when people reach out to touch him without permission, and cries when someone he doesn’t know or like hugs him (and Jim gets that reaction once before realizing that Bones never ‘learned’ to hate unwanted touch, but always hated it.)

KidBones, who makes chocolates with Nyota at least once, sitting on the small counter of her room and watching as she pours chocolate into molds. learning how the process goes before trying it out for himself and laughing when he gets chocolate all over his hands. Who gives chocolates to all of his ‘new friends’ with a bright smile on his face, and walks up to Spock proudly holding out a box of sweet Vulcan treats that Nyota had found stashed in his room (he’ll find Spock another box before his birthday. she knows he will)

“One to beam up, Mr. Scott.” Bones called up to the ship.

The beam down had been rough, to say the least and he wasn’t looking forward to repeating the experience. Scotty had tried to explain about some anomaly in the atmosphere, but all Bones heard was “something, something, dangerous, you’re probably going to die in this death machine.” Which, if he was honest, was what he heard every time they talked about the transporter.

The transporter engaged and he took a deep breath. It was like getting in to a cold lake, he told himself. You just gotta jump in all at once. Get it over with.

A few seconds later, aboard the Enterprise, someone materialised. The uniform was McCoy’s and so was the kit and tricorder. But the boy standing there draped in a uniform that was far too big for him definitely wasn’t the same man that they’d beamed up.

Jim was making his way to the transporter room with Yeoman Rand at his flank handing him report after report for his signature. Thankfully he’d read most of them the day before, and he was only checking for minor changes. He was also thankful he knew the interior of Enterprise like the back of his hand, or he’d have walked into a bulkhead more than twice on the way.

“And one more, Captain,” the blonde said as she took the PADD from his hand and flipped through the pages to the bottom of the stack.

“You promise?” he joked as he took it back just as the double red doors to the transporter whooshed open. “Because my wrist is getting tired.” He glanced toward the sparkling energy on the pad, not paying a whole lot of attention to it, even if it was Bones beaming up—they did it all the time—so he wasn’t worried.

“Oh my!” Rand said, tapping Jim’s arm to draw his attention.

“Hmmm?” he looked toward the pad and nearly dropped the reports on the deck. There was no mistaking those blue eyes, even if they were in a kid’s face. “Bones? Mr. Scott, what happened?”
