Huh. Shikamaru didn't know if it was the sake he'd ingested during the course of the meal or if his eyes were playing tricks on him but... Shino was actually emoting openly. Well, as openly has he could with a half obstructed face. Maybe this had been a good idea. A game of shougi, some boxes of take out sushi and sashimi, and a sake bottle later made for a couple of merry friends. If you could call the bug boy merry; he was definitely slightly flushed but his mannerisms were much the same.

❝Hey, Shino,❞ Shikamaru said blinking at how loud his voice was and how difficult it was to control his tongue, ❝have you ever been drunk before?❞ The only reply he got was silence and a stare that seemed to say ‘what do you think?’ Chuckling, he scratched the back of his neck and smiled sheepishly. ❝Okay... I guess not. You've got a really good tolerance for not having drunk before...❞ It's impressive.

A low sound came from his friend causing the Nara to be completely speechless. That... that was a chuckle. Aburame Shino, the elusive ninja who rarely showed his face, actually laughed. For some reason the sounds sent shivers down his spine making him blush slightly.

It was raining, no, thundering. The sky was dark, menacing and flashes of lightning could be seen playing within the clouds themselves. Raindrops rolled off Shikamaru’s umbrella in cascades into the waiting puddles below where he stood. He knew Shino was out there somewhere even though he said he’d be back before the storm started. Tch.
