how introspective is your muse ? how often do they self - reflect ? honestly? not terribly. raylan isn’t a very sentimental person, and for him, introspection falls under the banner of sentimentality. most of his self-reflection comes when he’s drunk and alone ( which is a fairly frequent occurrence ) but little actual growth comes out of that kind of thinking, because he’s either unlikely to recall his own insights in the morning, and he tends to write-off the insights he does remember as nought but the flawed musings of a mind drowning in bourbon. 

that’s not to say he’s completely lacking any sort of self-perception or ability to look inwards. but he is the type to try to avoid trips into his own psyche. he knows that spending too much time in your own head is damaging--as a teenager, lapsing into the comfort of his own thoughts tended to lead him into depressive periods. as a result, raylan concluded that indulging in the sentimentality of introspection was a good way to hurt yourself.
