YEAH!! I FINISHED IT!! I fixed the tail and feet and all, too. ^.^
So yâall deserve an explanation of the sketches:
Up top is the neck-gauntlet thing in all of its hastily colored glory. It's made of a gold alloy and has changed since her last reference, especially in the âmagickinessâ. It is now simply a status symbol, much like fancy jewelry or a crown, which she gains later in her life.Â
The sketch just to the left of the central referenceâs head is a forward-facing head ref, mainly for breadth, and the neck-gauntlet-thing.
The full-body sketch below is a map of her armor (if you can call it that). It is made up of a series of leather straps with metal spikes. These straps attach to her helmet, and accommodate her wings. The purpose is to severely injure the mouth of whatever tries to bite her, or prevent the bite in the first place.Â
Bottom left is her helmet, with holes for her eyes, horns, earholes, and nostrils. Â It is composed of two separate pieces held together by the straps/armor. It has added spikes for intimidation and protection.
The sketch to the left of the helmet(s) is of her forefoot from the front. The toes on the front foot easily move independently of each other and the thumb is opposable (can touch all other toes) and can be used for grasping and fine motor movement. The claws are longer and thinner than those of the hindfeet.
Directly to the right of the central reference is her hind leg as seen from the front. The "thumb" is vestigial and has no grasping ability, but retains a small claw. The toes are less dextrous than those of the forefoot and have shorter, thicker claws. NONE OF HER CLAWS ARE RETRACTABLE.
The last two sketches are just a comparison for proportions of Kevari at different ages (older hatchling, but not yet juvenile up top, and recent hatchling below). As a young dragon, her horns and tail spikes more more like nubs. Her wings were also too small for flight.
