[Kev is sitting in a chair in the back of an empty church, listening to music on their phone. the only other people in the room seem to be janitors cleaning the statues and paintings of Eternatus depicted saving people and creating life. It’s oddly quiet, which is why Kev is here. The meeting room where all the Leaders were discussing plans was much too loud and stressful, so they asked to go to the bathroom and didn’t come back. Now, they were regretting it. Barbara had told them specifically to come right back, as this meeting was important and it would be disrespectful and rude to not attend. Nothing had even happened yet and they were already worried about being yelled at. Their stomach was turning as they tried their best to forget about the consequences. Then, as if on queue, Barbara walked through the doors into the room.

“You’ve been dishonest, Kev. I was tracking your phone and it showed me that you’ve been in here for thirty minutes. Thirty whole minutes. Explain yourself”

Kev jumped and quickly removed their earbuds.

“I was-“

Barbara cut them off.

“You’d disrespect me like that? You’d disrespect Lord Eternatus in this way? You are to give your life and soul to Him and instead you are here. You are here avoiding everyone to play self centered games on your phone. This is the most horrendous, awful thing a child could do. At this rate, you will not be Saved.”

Tears welled up in Kev’s eyes, but they did not fall down their cheeks, and they maintained a straight face.

“Why have you been tracking my phone? You’re invading my privacy. I will do better to please Lord Eternatus, but please don’t track me.”

Barbara raises her voice.

“You do not deserve privacy! That is a privilege, one you have not earned. You’re being selfish and immature, don’t forget, we were the ones who saved you after your parents died in that awful house fire. Was such a shame really. They must have been really pleasant people. Yet, they somehow raised a girl as disrespectful and disobedient as you! I will still forgive you, if you apologize, and continue to devote yourself to Lord Eternatus and Lord Eternatus only.

The tears started to fall down Kev’s face as they quietly cried as their voice shook.

“I- I understand Leader Barbara. I apologize. I won’t do this again, and I will continue to worship and fear Lord Eternatus as you have taught.”

Barbara only grew more angry at this.

“You’re crying. You are crying because you know you’re a liar. You are not truly sorry. You’re being incredibly disrespectful. You don’t deserve this.”

Barbara quickly snatches the phone and earbuds out of Kev’s hand, and makes her way towards the door. As she leaves, she says a few last words to Kev before returning to her meeting.

“Maybe this time, you will learn how to behave and do what you are told. I can only hope this will be enough for Lord Eternatus to save you as you were saved from that fire a year ago. Goodbye.”

I would rather not do the Darkest Day again. That is all.
