Ketzan, have you heard your Pitch is no longer in the Fleet?

(go here for better readability)
—
First Lieutenant Nedizu Chiura was nothing if not observant. He saw the signs early on, and simply felt as though he were counting down the days before his captain vanished.
Nedizu had initially thought about raising his concerns to a higher authority, but it was quite frankly a pointless endeavor. Whether he was removed from service and harshly punished, or left on his own accord, they would still be losing a captain. The details of these circumstances mattered very little to Nedizu, and thus, even as his superior waxed poetic about his dreams of taking to the high seas with nothing tethering him, he said nothing. Each time it came up, he would dismiss it, and bring up something more relevant to their current situation, such as scheduling concerns or fatality lists.
ketzan, have you ever lost a crew member (or multiple) in recent sweeps? a tragic loss at all? or do you think you've been relatively lucky in that regard?
"Though we've been relatively lucky, there have been some losses over the sweeps. Nothing too recent, but still painful all the same.
It really is a shame, but unfortunately, you do take that risk when you become part of a pirate crew. Everyone understood what they were getting themselves into prior to joining, so we try not to get too torn up over it. When it happens, we celebrate their lives, we mourn their deaths, we drink to their honor...
... And then we move on. Such is the way of life, my dear."

Hey Ketzan, how long has it been since you last spoke to that Nedizu guy?
"Goodness, Nedizu? That's a name I haven't heard in a long time. He's a captain now, isn't he? Good on him, truly."
"I'm afraid I've not even seen hide nor hair of the man in several sweeps, let alone actually spoken to him. A shame, truly. I would love to update him on my endeavors."
how do you feel about the weird new addition to your crew lately as well?
"Ah, Saja? She is a wonderful addition. Some of our crew are a touch cautious of her, but I think Lyydia and Sicklefin have taken quite a shine to her already! I believe that in just a week, she'll really feel like one of us, and might even be loath to leave. Ha, that's the hope, at least."
ketzan, do you ever worry about the fleet tracking you down at all? or is that not a major concern of yours when there's other potential threats at sea?
"Well, I actually have a... pitch affair with a fleet troll. Terrible man, truly, but I do so love making him scowl."
"That is to say, I can't exactly be too concerned, if I'm willing to go out of my way to meet with one every now and again.
No, the fleet poses little concern. They're an occasional scuffle. Merely a nuisance, or small obstacle. I suppose I'm really not a high priority target for them these days, since it's been quite a while since I've defected. They'll attack me on-sight, certainly, but they aren't exactly willing to die to bring back an old, injured captain who isn't making bold political movements against the Empire. Me and my crew are not really worth the resource expenditure."
