“Grivk” is a Kervanian word that loosely translates into english as “universe”. “Universe”, however, is actually a much broader term than “Grivk”.

The “Universe” is commonly defined as the totality of existence, and whether or not this extends to “Universes” separate from the one in which we exist is a subject of debate, as is the existence of other “Universes”. To Kervanians, on the other hand, other “Universes” play an integral role in their society, mainly as a means of quick transportation(the 1st through 4th Grivks), or storage(The 5th Grivk).

When Kervanians and humans first came into contact in 2011 AD, the words “Grivk” and “Universe” were considered to mean the same thing, but when the two societies began to merge around 234 PP(Post-Portal), it became commonly accepted that the word “Grivk” referred to individual realms of existence, and that “Universe” referred to all realms of existence as a whole(Example statement: “In the entire Universe, there are roughly a thousand Grivks that can theoretically be safely visited.”)

The Separation

The Separation was the event by which a group of 200 or so Kervanians were stranded on Earth, with no idea where they were, and no way back. There were two sisters, Weavers, who were supposedly experimenting with travel through the seventh Grivk. Whether it was an accident or done purposefully as an act of terrorism was highly disputed, and to this day, no one really knows, but the two Weavers, and the 200 others, disappeared into the seventh Grivk, and were never seen again on Kervanis. They came out of the portal on Earth, and eventually settled down nicely(Once they got used to Earth's wonderful variety of wildlife).

The Sorcerous Orders

When the Kervanians first arrived on Earth, there were only three sorcerous orders, the Nien, the ruling order, Nyar'Ahri, the order of the red stone, and Nyar'Dirun, order of the white stone. Morganna Le Faye the first founded Nyar'Ilith, the order of the green stone, in the late Triassic period, Nyar'Benged, the order of the blue stone, was founded shortly afterwards.

On Kervanis, things took a slightly different path. The orders of the green and blue stones were founded a few hundred years after the Separation, but were named Nyar'ToriinI(blue), and Nyar'Delsinn(green).

The Elemental Orders

There are four elemental orders. On Earth, the four elemental orders were considered sub-orders until about twenty years after the end of the First Great War(Around the end of the Cretaceous period), when Mirren Akilanti declared them independent orders, and appointed representatives on the Council of Nien for them. On Kervanis, the four elemental orders were never represented on the Council, and remained sub-orders of the four Sorcerous orders.

The elemental orders are Fin'Derc, the order of Fire, Fin'Gahn, the order of Earth, Fin'Dahl, the order of water, and Fin'Yern, the order of Air.
