#kernel sprite

I found a mouse in my basement and it dosent work very good BUT it works good enough to where i can make sprite edits! Sorry this took so long

ok, listen up, there's a very big difference between your kernel sprite and your regular "insertnamehere"sprite. the former is pictured up top in the first picture (before any prototyping) and  the ladder is pictured right under it. these are two different states in your sprite's functioning and serve two very different purposes! before you enter the medium, your sprite is a KERNEL SPRITE. it can be prototyped twice, but is very stubborn and tends to like being prototyped with dead things. it will probably flash around and do random stuff. it might even try to talk to you, but it can't actually say real words at this point. so don't even try to talk to your dead cat moments after throwing that sucker in if you haven't entered the medium yet.

once you enter the medium, your kernel sprite will immediately split into three different parts. one will go to prospit, one to derse, and one will stay with you and turn into your "insertnamehere"sprite. 

your kernel sprite does this because it is sending information to derse and prospit, telling the game what features to give your imps and any prospitians/dersites wearing the royal rings or holding the royal scepter.

but now you have your "insertnamehere"sprite! they can now talk to you and give you rather vague instructions and hints about playing the game. they can also give you some sort of necklace with a pendent on it so that you can contact them any time you want? pretty sweet.

if you forgot to prototype your sprite a total of two times before you hit the medium, don't worry! you can still prototype your sprite. this just means that whatever you prototype will not effect the surrounding imps or anyone with the rings and scepters.
