The Topic of Interspecies Relations and Babies
Though extremely rare, canine-human relationships do still occur. While the majority of humans are oblivious to this topic, it is generally looked down upon in the canine community. If a relationship does occur between a canine and a human, the human is usually given the option to perform a ritual to become a canine themselves. It is very dangerous and potentially lethal for the human, but if they accept the ritual and survive, they are welcomed into the canine community.
When it comes to having children, there is a double-standard in the law, but for good reason. With a female canine and male human, the infants are born as normal human-looking babies in litters of up to 3. They are born with both a canine and a human soul in them so they can easily transition between the two forms. While generally looked down upon, this pairing is generally tolerated among the canine community. For a human female and a male canine, however, this pairing is highly forbidden. A human female’s body cannot handle the canine soul inside the fetus, and in childbirth, the mother usually dies and the child is a mutated human-canine, commonly referred to by humans as werewolves or were-(insert animal name here). They mature very quickly and possess strong predatory instincts, attacking and killing almost everything in sight. If a were-canine is created, both father and child are hunted down and killed as soon as possible in attempts to prevent mass bloodshed.
