THE WALTER CUP MAKES THE HOCKEY HALL OF FAME IT’S NEW HOME By: Kelly Masse, Hockey Hall of Fame TORONTO, CANADA - The Professional Women’s Hockey League’s (PWHL) championship trophy, the Walter Cup, is officially displayed at the Hockey Hall of Fame. It will be showcased in the “Women’s Hockey – Celebrating Excellence” display, as well as newly received artifacts from the PWHL’s inaugural season. The Walter Cup, created in partnership with global luxury jeweler Tiffany & Co., weighs 35 pounds, stands 24 inches tall, and is over 13 inches wide. The removable base will include the engraved names of each year’s winning team. The Walter Cup is named in recognition of the historic commitment made by the Walter family – Mark and Kimbra Walter and their daughter, Samantha, who provided the financial support that launched the PWHL. The limited-time HHOF exhibit features exclusive artifacts showcasing 100 seasons of Boston Bruins HockeyBy: Kelly Masse, Hockey Hall Of Fame (HHOF)TORONTO (November 30, 2023) – To celebrate the Boston Bruins’ milestone season, the Hockey Hall of Fame (HHOF) has opened a Boston Bruins Centennial exhibit that will run through the 2023-24 hockey season and into the 2024-25 hockey season with December 1, 2024, marking their 100th anniversary.With specially curated artifacts from 1926 to 2018, the display outlines the story of the first US-based NHL team to reach its Centennial and the third club overall. Featured items include a miniature Stanley Cus presented to Art Ross, representing the team’s first Stanley Cup win in 1928-29, and Nels Stewart’s game-worn NHL All-Star team sweater from the “Ace” Baily Benefit game played on February 14, 1934.The famous “Kraut Line” is well represented with sweaters from Milt Schmidt (1937-38), Woody Dumart (1948-49), and Bobby Bauer (March 18, 1952). MASSE: HOCKEY HALL OF FAME TO RE-OPEN ON JULY 15, 2020

BY: Kelly Masse, Hockey Hall-Of-Fame TORONTO (July 10, 2020) – Lanny McDonald, Chairman of the Hockey Hall of Fame announced today that the Hockey Hall of Fame will re-open to the public on Wednesday, July 15th after closing on Saturday, March 14th due to the unprecedented circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are fortunate that all of our staff are healthy and Ontarians have followed the governmental guidelines and principals, which will allow the Hockey Hall of Fame to officially re-open on July 15th,” said McDonald. “The Hall’s top priority is the health and safety of our guests and staff. To that end, we have worked on stringent protocols that adhere to the Province of Ontario’s stage 2 re-opening guidelines.” All guests are required to wear a mask when entering Brookfield Place and the Hockey Hall of Fame (the Hall will provide complimentary disposable masks and gloves); the Hall will implement physical distancing; complimentary stylus pens will be given out to use on the touch screens and hand sanitizers are available throughout the facility. All Hockey Hall of Fame front-line staff will wear face shields and gloves and will have their temperature taken prior to each shift. MASSE: RETIRED STANLEY CUP BAND PLACED ON PERMANENT DISPLAY

Stanley Cup band featuring the engraved names of its champions from the 1953-54 to 1964-65 seasons preserved at the Hockey Hall of Fame BY: Kelly Masse, NHL Hall-of-Fame TORONTO (December 19, 2018) - The Hockey Hall of Fame has placed on permanent display the recently retired Stanley Cup band featuring 12 past Stanley Cup champions from 1954 through to 1965. The recent band features the following teams:

This celebrated and historic band joins previously retired bands, the earliest dating back to the 1927-28 season. A new band was added on the bottom row of the Stanley Cup earlier this season to include the engraving of the 2017-2018 champions, the Washington Capitals. The next band to be removed and retired features the 1965-66 to 1977-78 Stanley Cup champions, and will take place in 2030. Prior to the New York Rangers 1993-94 championship season and with no more space to accommodate the full rosters of future champions, the Stanley Cup Trustees resolved to maintain the profile of the iconic trophy which has witnessed its share of glory since the original bowl was retired along with the upper collar and various shaped barrel bands in 1957 (all of which are on permanent exhibition for hockey fans to view in the Esso Great Hall/Lord Stanley’s Vault at the Hockey Hall of Fame).
