Barry Pederson’s Shorthanded Goal Buried The Blues At Boston Garden
Barry Pederson was one of the NHL’s most dangerous offensive players in the early 1980s, and on November 14, 1982, he delivered another huge moment for the Boston Bruins.
Facing the St. Louis Blues at Boston Garden, Pederson scored a shorthanded goal late in the second period while Terry O’Reilly sat in the penalty box. The goal gave Boston a 4-1 lead and stood up as the game winner in a 7-3 Bruins victory.
Pederson also assisted on one of Ray Bourque’s two goals. Bourque finished with four points in the game while Keith Crowder, Luc Dufour, Peter McNab and Brad Palmer also scored for Boston.
The 1982-83 season was a massive one for Pederson. He finished with 107 points and ten game-winning goals before adding 32 playoff points in just 17 games.
