The Stockbridge Unity Town Hall was amazing! Matthew 6:14-15 " 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." The Citizen panel did a great job discussing issues that unite us all like building the best community possible in Stockbridge! My bible says forgive and move forward in togetherness. I chose this panel as a reflection on the city being composed of business owners, nonprofit partners, education leaders, seniors, and members from both sides of the Eagles Landing citihood referendum to see how we could begin the process of moving forward united.The original panel included Art Christian of "Citizens to Keep Stockbridge Together" who unexpectedly canceled mere minutes before the event was to start due to a scheduling issue according to him. Cherice Hollis "Democratic Federation of Women" new President was also on the panel and she had an emergency family issue. Art Christian was to serve as the representative for the Ballot committees which left that position unfilled. It should also be noted Yvette Davis of the Coalition to Keep Stockbridge Together was invited to participate but could not due to work. The panel discussions went well demonstrating we all have many shared common goals and interests. We covered the need for Community Improvement Districts/CIDs in the community. I and Councilwoman Neat Robinson have been working behind the scenes on a CID for Hwy 138 after I lead the charge to pass the Hwy 138 Overlay in Stockbridge raising standards to one of the highest in the metro Atlanta area. The Hwy 138 Overlay bans unwanted business like truck stops, pawn shops, and check cashing stores while setting architectural standards and featuring walkability with modern urban designs bolstering upgraded landscaping.
