it's probably been said before maybe i also said it before but just. the way allison casually touches patty because she's that kind of person once patty cracks her shell open, an open and warm and affectionate person, and the way patty reacts to that, like she's been marked and irrevocably changed by allison's hand, every single time. allison not even realizing she's done anything and patty looking down at her body where allison touched it like she's just now learning this is her body. i can't take it.

allison mcroberts. she's a whimpering wet dog left out in the cold. she's a manipulative schemer. her only hobby is maladaptive daydreaming. she's a naggy housewife with bad highlights. she doesnt know how to cook dinner. she was popular in high school but now she's 35 and so friendless and poorly socialized that every interaction with her feels like a slow motion car crash. random retail workers bully her for fun. she lies to cops. mental illness runs in her family. she uses finger guns earnestly and frequently. she will internalize every single thing anybody ever says about her. she doesn't know how to change her ringtone.

see, the power of perception is such a unrecognized tool that “Kevin Can Fuck Himself” does so incredibly well. because a grand majority of the emotional and financial abuse that Allison suffers under is shown out in the open, no secrets. and people still don’t recognize it. they hear Kevin berate her, call her stupid, spend all their money without telling her, ignore her, destroy what's important to her....but it's funny! so it can't be that bad, can it?

noah wyle is giving vibes of a guy who watched “Kevin Can Fuck Himself” and thought that Kevin wasn’t that bad actually and Allison was overreacting and selfish and dramatic. and has no critical thought or awareness about that at all.

patty o’connor kevin can fuck himself still character of all time to me. extremely grounded and realistic repression and resignation and sort of unwilling care and devotion… and like complete sidelining of her own needs and desires (to the extent that she’s even willing to recognize that she has them) for other people while also being deeply standoffish and not someone people would think of immediately as like caring. trying so hard to help people and also not look like she’s trying. she is everything to meeeee. miss her. miss patty/allison. need them back (time for rewatch soon!)
