She had been looking at a painting when the music gave way to silence and the lights went out, causing the young woman to look around and realize that she was now alone. "Surely I missed the closing announcement," she said with a confused sigh, "I should leave too, the art will still be here tomorrow." She walked down the stairs and took a right, walking towards the exit sign, but was shocked to see that there was no door, just a wall with a message in what appeared to be crayon.
"You'll never leave here, Jenny. Come play with me in the water-less sea."
"Water-less... Sea? Does it mean that big floor-painting, 'Abyss of the Deep'?" Without giving it a second thought, Jenny headed into the room with the large painting on the floor depicting a giant, scary looking fish in the deep ocean. She froze in front of it. The ropes were missing, the painting seemed to be alive, and she soon found herself falling-- falling into the Abyss.
She woke up on the floor of a hallway she'd never seen before. "Could this possible be a dream?" she asked herself, trying to be calm by using that thought as she got to her feet. To her left, there was a gray door with no handle, and on the right, there was a glass door adorned with a lovely rose pattern. Three of the four roses were colored; a yellow rose, which seemed cracked, a blue rose and red rose that almost seemed real, and a colorless rose that seemed a bit lonely. Her gaze set upon the rose door, she waited for what seemed like an eternity before heading towards it. Her heartbeat sang in her ears and she slowly got closer to the door, arm out-stretched. A heartbeat then a step.... She drew in her breath and held it as she opened the door, unsure if it was safe.
There, in the room, was a table, a vase, a note, and a rose. A violet rose. Not a pale violet, but a very vibrant lavender that one would only see from a fabricated rose. It caught her complete attention and she picked it up without thought or hesitation, then glanced at the door after hearing an odd sound. Her eyes went wise and she spun around to see that the door's once colorless rose turning violet. "What is this place!?" she asked, running from the room.
The breeze created by her sudden movement made the note fall to the floor...
"When the rose rots, so too will you rot away."
