i put a spell on you. — A representative from the Magaesterium looking to woo Meera to join their ranks as a student. Meera is utterly absorbed with her cartography and history hobbies and has not taken to her magic, yet. At the moment she is refusing to attend, much to her sister’s dismay. The connection may be interested in Meera’s abilities for their own selfish reasons, out of curiosity, their loyalty to the Magaesterium, whatever reasons to be completely honest! Someone please take advantage of this idiot nerd.  

your obedient servant. — Meera is fairly far down the line of succession, however she is still a Guillory and privy to some private matters. This connection would be a lady-in-waiting, lady’s maid, chauffeur, whatever who was looking to glean Guillory/Midlands secrets from Meera. She’s a perfect target if only for her naïveté and tendency to blather. Her passion lies in her hobbies and thinks most of the crown’s problems are not that important… again, she’s an idiot nerd, please someone take advantage of her spaciness.  

everything interests me but nothing holds me. — Meera is somewhat clueless when it comes to romantic endeavors. She may be used to politically align her family with another through marriage in the future but it is not something she often thinks about. Outside a potential betrothal, it could be cute to have someone interested in her and she just has no idea. Bonus points if she doesn’t even realize she returns those feelings. Angst could follow if she does end up getting engaged for political reasons. (EVEN MORE BONUS POINTS IF THIS PERSON IS ALSO THE “YOUR OBEDIENT SERVANT” CONNECTION)

Following the Eclipse, Meera was one of the people who was gifted with new magical abilities due to the influx of magical phenomena, specifically illusion magic. Nose in a history book, when Meera rose from the pages she found a crude blueprint of a Vailen castle wavering before her. Her handle on the magic is shaky. Her illusions depend on her knowledge of and familiarity with the image she wishes to conjure. Her sister has been urging her to go to the Magaesterium to strengthen her ability but Meera has little interest in anything outside of her maps and history books. As of right now, her magical abilities are not well known but I’m sure she’ll get into some predicament where she accidentally exposes herself.  

Her sobriquet derives from her growing notoriety as a cartographer. As Meera never imagined she would inherit the throne, she threw herself into her studies and resigned herself to an ordinary life — or as ordinary a life a princess can lead. From a young age, she showed promise in art and history. Her tutors expected her to lean into art history but maps were what sparked her passion. She has dedicated herself to her craft and is often absorbed with it, sometimes not even hearing someone while she’s working when they’re trying to get her attention.

THREE PLOTS

While he tends to treat his magical abilities as mere entertainment - and to make much of how stunted they are, as a result of his being denied proper training as a child - Sev’s more capable than he acknowledges. Perhaps not in magics that the magaesteriums value, but he’s a natural diviner, with a rare knack for not only perceiving the future, but looking into the past. His powers could have some real use in the world… if he bothered to use them for more than party tricks. I’d love to connect him to other magical practitioners of all sorts, each with their own ideas of what magic is “for.” It’d also be fun to give him a reason to more properly develop his abilities, under someone’s mentorship.

Sevren has roamed through just about every known continent at some point over his travels, making many friends and enemies. Of course, he’s also made a lot of stories, and is much-whispered about in the courts whenever he drops by for one of his enigmatic appearances. In theory, he has just about everything one could hope for, in a diplomat - except, of course, any interest in the job. He’s been utterly devoted to his fairly self-centred, scandalous life for decades, and doesn’t intend to change. This was made quite clear by his rather shocking refusal of the dukedom, when his elder brother passed away unexpectedly; it’s that which put the duchy in his niece’s hands, and, frankly, Sev has no qualms at all about that. She was always his favourite relative, anyway. But what do his noble peers think of all that rank irresponsibility, wasted potential, and incorrigible scandal? As he settles back into Elysi for a longer than usual stay, what place will he find for himself, and with who?

Sev’s drifted back to Ravencliff and the courts of Elysi often over the years, but never with much urgency. That didn’t really change when he heard news of rebellion brewing. He’s never borne the crown any real ill will, personally, but he also doesn’t imagine he’d be much use to them, should all this come to violence. Well, more violence. Even if he’s spent a great deal of time among the common people of the kingdom, and could perhaps stretch to understanding some of their grievances, he knows he’s not one of them. Meaning their crusade, ultimately, is against him as well. Isn’t it? I’m curious to see how people push and pull at him, in relation to the rebellion. Let’s find out!

MAGIC ETC.

I thought it might be fun if Sev had a bit of magic to him that was discouraged when he was a boy, by practical Seaworth parents; for a time, he did his best to deny his gifts, to try and please them. As he grew older, he wandered broadly in the interests of learning about the craft in his own way, from hedgewitches. He was an eager student, but to this day, mostly treats his magic as a hobby - more personal amusement and intellectual curiosity than any sort of calling.

Sev’s best known for his PSYCHOMETRY - the ability to glimpse the past of an object on touch - and DIVINING, by (in descending order of preference) birds, the ocean and shoreline, palms, cards, saltwater and smoke, and entrails. He’s also quite quick to connect to RAVENS, and fondly visits the resident conspiracy whenever he stops by the family estate.

As a child, his psychometry was so sensitive and uncontrolled that he took to avoiding touching unfamiliar objects, and wearing leather gloves, when there was no avoiding contact; he’s maintained the gloves, as this particular ability is still a bit unpredictable.

[curiosity is a dish best served with others] - At her core, Willamina is inquisitive and willing to learn all she can about different religions and magic and legends. She’s definitely a bookworm but she loves to experience the world and learn from it. Anyone who’s studied at different magaesteriums and temples could have crossed her path.

[i can’t help it that i’m so popular] - While she might be extremely interested in learning about things and history and the past, she’s also not going to sit around and ask someone questions so that they can grow “closer”. She’ll be interested in people’s stories as much as she’s interested in any history but she also doesn’t consider it truly worth her time to put herself out there for many people. In some ways, in many ways, she considers herself better because she’s studied so hard. She definitely could have offended different people in the past by acting rather haughty about things.

[they all blend together] - As a priestess, it is her duty to uphold the basic tenants of the infinite three. Those being Kata, Moruk, and Varis. Luckily, they tend to be fairly loose and tolerant gods according to the legends told about them. Their basic tenants include things like living life to their fullest as Kata would wish, honoring Moruk and dedicating the first crop of the season to him, spending their summers basking naked under Varis’ sun. She’s likely come across many people at different parties and other events dedicated to these three, or other gods.

Erinwel became a Lord on the Council after being voted in when House Elidyr had a large vacancy of their seats. Thinking the position was simply an opportunity to travel, drink, and fraternize with foreign nations, as well as make connections for his merchant business, he threw his name into the hat and as one of very few willing, was voted in. He quickly realized his mistake. He immediately ran from the responsibility of actual work and now spends his time in Loqoala, avoiding the calls of the council and dodging any efforts to bring him back to his title while avoiding a public show of weakness. Perhaps your muse was hired to find him or you’re from Vailen itself hoping to convince him to get his ass back to work.

Erinwel resides in Loqoala, helping Catlina run The Nightshade. He runs a liquor trade and deals with more dubious products under the table. After running from his elected position, he traveled the kingdoms, making connections where he went. This allows him a pretty decent network of connections despite his disinterest in actual politics. This may have attracted the attention of a rebel or devious royal who knows who he is and where he is hiding. Perhaps they are trying to coerce him into helping their cause via blackmail and threats.

Due to his travel, frivolous lifestyle, and business he has, as mentioned above, a LOT of connections. Feel free to reach out with any plot ideas you might want to explore with him.

The Piece That Doesn’t Quite Fit- While Estelle is acting as the Duchess, she tries to fit the part of a posed and put-together young lady to the best of her abilities, even if she very often falls short. I’d love for there to be some friends at court that can help her along with everything or even enemies who try to expose the woman’s slip ups.

Night of Debauchery- Estelle occasionally sneaks out disguised as a commoner. It’s one of the few times she truly feels carefree and herself. I’d love for there to be people who know her by her disguise. They’d know her by the name of “Aspen” and could be her drinking buddies, someone who she’s gambled with/played cards with, someone she spent a night with, someone who helped her out of trouble, a pirate who let her hang around the ship at port, a solider who indulged her with their stories etc.

The Family that Lies Together, Stays Together- I’d love for someone to play her half-brother who will eventually take over the Dukedom from her, another one of her half-siblings from the late duke or even family on her mother side whom she’s been kept away from all this time

The Truth is Out- Someone who either knows her secret (the head maid who raised Estelle might have been their mother) or someone who discovers it

The Seaworth Secret: Unlike the rest of her family with their raven black hair, Stella, with her amber eyes and tangled curls, always seemed out of place. Although everyone believes her to be the daughter of the late Duke and Duchess, Stella is actually illegitimate. The only people who know the truth consist of her half-siblings and the head maid who raised her. She never knew much about her real mother growing up, though her father did refer to the woman as a temptress now and again. But, from what she had picked up from the head maid’s thoughts-  it seems Stella’s mother was no more than a ‘common whore’ whom the Duke had plucked off of the street and allowed to be his Mistress for a short while. The betrayal of the Late Duchess is what sent her grace towards an early grave.

Estelle sometimes jokes with her siblings that she is more Seaworth than the rest of them: The illegitimate child clung onto the legend that she was descendant of a pirate growing up. She used to be a bit of a hopeless romantic in that sense and loved the idea that a woman was the one who continued their family line through finding her soulmate no less. As a child, she used to be found spending almost every minute of her free time down by the sea in search of the siren of whom she was a kin to.

Estelle is the “Acting Duchess”, but given the truth about her birth, she knows she will need to forfeit the title to her brother who will step up as the reigning Duke as soon as his nuptials take place. Her brother and her used to be thick as thieves as children, but as they grew up and the weight of politics fell upon them, the pair of siblings began to grow more estranged.

Estelle’s brother was trained to carry on the Dukedom, while Estelle was encouraged to go down a different path. She joined the Magaesterium at a young age, hoping to be gifted in hydrokinesis with her love of the water. But, alas, Estelle was gifted, but in mental magic, once again seeming to prove how un-seaworthy she truly was. The Magi, instead, took to telepathy and telekinesis. Her head constantly overwhelmed with other’s tumultuous opinions of her.

Estelle has always wanted to run off or escape the position she has been born into. She never wanted to be a pawn for marriage. She wanted to be pirate, but seeing how unlikely that seemed, she decided she wanted to run off and join the military- to fight beside her brothers and sisters like the Seaworths were legendary for. But, all of her secret training was in vein, for she was caught and punished accordingly before she could even step foot out of the front door.

Now, that Estelle is older, however, she has developed a knack for sneaking out, disguising herself as a peasant from time to time and immersing herself in the city streets.

BRIEFLY DESCRIBE ONE PLOT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR: Athanasia is a representative in the Elysi parliament and I would love people working with her on the issues that concern her: the trade, health, and safety of common people and nobles alike. She is very neutral as a politician and takes no sides publicly, claiming her duty is to those she represents–Elysi.

BRIEFLY DESCRIBE ANOTHER PLOT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR: However, in reality she is working behind the scenes to try to find people on the side of the rebels who are more interested in peace or compromise. She is wanting to create a meeting of minds of people who are not so extreme and potentially damaging in her views. She is also doing the same on the side of the nobles, trying to find neutral, peaceful, or at least pro-compromise members of the group. This one is harder for her because she is a popular representative but she was born a commoner and I doubt they have forgotten it despite moving and shaking in the upper echelons for so long and marrying a successful man.

Biography:

Athanasia, or Anthy to those close to her, was born to a middle class trading family in the capital city of Elysi. She was the first daughter but all that meant was that she would marry first and had few prospects. However, she always wanted more. That chance came when, after growing into a beautiful woman, she caught the eye of the local Representative, Roland Rocher. He was attracted to her beauty but married her for her strong empathy and sharp wit that took what education she had prior to meeting him and expanded it greatly upon entering a relationship with him (breaking off an engagement but she never told him about that). He passed away three years into their marriage, and she grieved for his loss as she had cared for him as a dear friend and mentor. However, he had begun preparing her to run for a representative position in her own right and she did so, using her black widows weeds to distinguish her as a candidate but also to invoke her husband’s legacy and long career. She won her first election and has kept her position for the past seven years.

Sparring Partner: Seline is fairly competitive, always trying to better herself. This would be some what of a rival of sorts or someone Seline spars with from time to time when she has a break away from her duties.

A Close Confidant: This would be a dear friend of Seline’s whom she trusts completely. They would have known her for years or even most of her life. They would be like her best friend and she will do anything to protect them.

A Political Engagement: Seline is currently seeking a betrothed- preferably someone from aristocracy, but not from a family that is powerful or a player. Seline has the constant worry that one of her siblings may try to take her out in order to be closer to the throne. This is why she hopes to align with someone with no political power so that they won’t be a threat to her when she eventually takes over to lead.

Seline Baodai was born as the second child to the Emperor and Empress. While her elder brother, Jeong’s destiny was to inherit the throne, Seline’s was to be the spare. If anything happened to Jeong, she would become the crown princess and be expected to take on all the pressures that came with it. But, for her first six years of her life, Seline was solely in her brother’s shadow. She was to know her place and not speak out of turn. While the Crown Prince received their father’s adoration and praise, the little girl would stumble after her older sibling, trying desperately to impress him.

The two young heirs were thick as thieves despite being constantly compared. But, that was before Jeong fell ill. The Crown Prince whom was suppose to inherit Loqoala and lead their people passed away when Seline was merely a child. He was too young and he left this world too soon. The memory of the perfect son and the responsibilities in turn fell upon Seline’s shoulders.

Before the young Prince’s body could even grow cold, Seline was thrown into her studies and she was a natural at that, quickly taking to all matters of the sword and scroll with ease. She had a mind for strategy, quickly grasping Loqoala’s favor system and beginning to use it for her own advantage. She was incredibly focused, hard-working and disciplined. She thrived during her time in the navy even becoming a Captain. She had the physical attributes of a warrior and the curious mind of a leader. And yet, as much as she tries to earn her father’s praise and be worthy for the crown, she always feels like she turns up short- never quite living up to the image of the son they had lost all of those years ago.

Not only does Seline have to live up to image of the fallen Prince, but she also had to be wary of her own family. Her younger siblings are greedy and power hungry. They want to become the heir and will do whatever it takes to obtain it. Seline grew up constantly watching her back, having survived many the attack on her own life from that of rival countries and her own relatives living under the same roof.

She often keeps people at a distant, preferring to move around House Baodai with limited guards and only close staff who she trusts. She also has her fair share of spies collecting information for her, especially on that of her siblings.

The Demisexual Empress has never given herself much time to focus on romance, with all of her energy being put towards becoming a great leader. But, the pressure is rising for her to find a betrothed, especially with her younger sister already with child. This is why she hopes to align with someone politically whom will not be power hungry enough to want to intrude on her future rule or become a threat like that of her siblings.

As for her family, I was hoping for to have a handful of younger siblings [at least two younger sisters (on of which is married with child) and a younger brother)] as well as of course her deceased older brother NPC Jeong Baodai

Friends How many of us have them: She would love to get to know other dragon riders and dragons. It’s a part of herself that her mother wanted to hold strong to even though she went to live with her father in Red Keep. She doesn’t want to lose touch with that part of herself.

When a good woman goes to war: She has serves in the military. So these could be people that have served and may know her from her time serving and fighting. She’s always felt as though she had a lot to prove so she always fought as if she did.

Although she never had to want for anything, she often finds herself with the need to bend the rules a little. Stealing when the opportunity strikes, getting into fights in the taverns. This would be someone that enjoys and joins in the reckless fun she often gets up to on occasion.
