Lights flashing, cameras clicking, people talking over each other, it all blends into one overwhelming blur. You’re smiling, nodding, doing the idol thing, but your hands won’t stop trembling.
“Unnie, are you okay?” Yoonchae’s voice is soft beside you. She notices your fingers shaking around your clutch.
You try to smile. “Yeah, it's just… a lot.”
She nods, rubbing your arm gently. “We can step out if you want.”
You shake your head. “No, it’s fine. I’m fine.”
Your chest is tight. Your breathing is uneven. The room feels like it’s shrinking.
Megan glances over mid‑conversation, eyes narrowing when she sees your expression. She excuses herself immediately and walks over.
“Y/N,” she says quietly, “you’re not okay.”
You swallow hard. “I just need a second.”
Megan looks at Yoonchae, worried andunsure, then back at you. “Do you want me to get someone?”
You shake your head again, but your hands tremble harder.
That’s when Megan makes the decision for you.
But she’s already gone, weaving through the crowd with purpose.
Yoonchae stays with you, rubbing your back in slow circles. “It’s okay. Just breathe. Megan will be back soon.”
You try. You really do. But the noise keeps getting louder, and your vision blurs at the edges.
His voice cuts through everything.
Juhoon appears beside you, breath slightly uneven like he rushed. Megan stands behind him, worried.
He takes one look at you. Your shaking hands, your unfocused eyes, and his whole expression softens with concern.
He steps closer immediately. “Hey. Look at me.”
You try, but your chest is too tight.
He gently takes your wrist, grounding you with his warmth. “You’re shaking,” he whispers. “Come here.”
He doesn’t wait for permission. But he moves slowly, giving you every chance to pull away. You don’t.
He guides you through the crowd, shielding you with his body, one hand hovering protectively at your back. Yoonchae and Megan watch you go, relieved.
Juhoon finds a quiet hallway behind the venue, dim and empty. The second the door closes, your breath stutters.
He turns to you instantly. “Hey, hey.. it’s okay.” His voice is so soft it almost breaks you.
He cups your arms lightly. “Breathe with me, okay?”
You nod, even though your throat feels tight.
He inhales slowly, waiting for you to follow. You try. It’s shaky, but you try.
“That’s it,” he murmurs. “You’re doing good.”
Your eyes sting. “Sorry- I just- it got too much.”
“You don’t have to apologize,” he says instantly.
He pulls you into his chest. Slow and careful, you melt into him, gripping the back of his jacket like it’s the only solid thing in the world.
His hand rubs slow circles on your back. “You’re okay,” he whispers. “I’ve got you.”
Your breathing finally starts to steady.
After a moment, he speaks again, voice barely above a whisper. “I saw your hands shaking from across the room.”
You let out a weak laugh. “That obvious?”
“Only to me,” he says, smiling softly into your hair. “I always notice you.”
Your heartbeat settles fully for the first time all night.
He pulls back just enough to look at you, brushing a thumb under your eye. “You okay now?”
You nod. “Yeah. Thanks to you.”
He exhales, relieved. “Good. I was… worried.”
He tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, gentle as ever. “Next time, just come find me. You don’t have to go through that alone.”
You lean into his touch. “I wasn’t alone.”
His cheeks flush, just a little, but he doesn’t look away.
“Stay with me a bit longer?” he asks quietly.
You nod, and he pulls you back into his arms, holding you like you’re something fragile and precious.
And for the first time all night, you can breathe.
