Ahhhh I love The Firebird!!! When I was in middle school we all wanted to play the Planet Suites just because they sounded amazing but we couldn’t haha.
The Firebird is so gorgeous and amazing and it's just stunning aurally ... and I love the whole Planets Suite, but Neptune is my favorite (I get a little miffed b/c the other movements like Jupiter get overdone and often by student groups who sometimes aren't up to the pieces) ... but yes, so gorgeous
gahhh I'm still sitting here just flabbergasted and blown away by The Unanswered Question again ... and the philosophical debates and questions posed by it and the way it's all handled and it's just so brilliant I can't handle it ...

oh yes I love Copland too ... also Webern is brilliant for atonal music ... or another good piece is Stravinsky's "The Firebird Suite" (I had a solo in it in college ... but the piece itself is gorgeous) ... or within Holst's Planets Suite - the Neptune movement is hauntingly gorgeous and my favorite movement ... plus it uses alto flute and women's choir offstage and its just brilliant (I begged to let us play it in college but didn't get to, sadly)

I think you've sent me that piece before ... it's so awesome!!! ... and yes!!! listen to "The Unanswered Question"!!! *bounces and flails* ... you might have just opened the biggest box of flails and such by chatting with me about music ... and like okay - the sad thing with my love for polytonality/atonality is that most people hate it just because of the dissonances and such, but it's so gorgeous if you can look past the different-ness of it all and just aweiufhawpoieruf ... plus the meaning behind "The Unanswered Question" is just brilliant and just akhfeoapiuweh
