CH2- An unforgiving principal
Sonic slid down poles and stair railings, jumping down levels to reach the bottom. His house was on the seventh level, quite high up without a straight stairs or ladder up. Nobody left their houses much anymore, it was rare to see them outside other than in the new Headset. People were so consumed by this new world, this escape from reality, so much that its all they wanted to do anymore. Sonic looked through the windows as he slid down the poles and rode the stair rails, seeing people doing nothing more than sitting in their headsets.
Sonic turned his nose up in a form of disgust, annoyed of all the people always being consumed online and never taking a moment to realize whats around them. The parents neglecting their children and then the children beginning to be just like them, too consumed into the game that they forget to eat and drop out of school. He hit the floor, making a small bubbly jump to stand up straight and then walking off to an area most people dont go. He walked into an abandoned dump, throwing the gates open and locking them behind himself, walking around until he found a deep and dark hole.
He jumped in, yelling in joy aloud, "WOO!" as he slid inside, it was an area that was smooth but surrounded by metal. When Sonic was younger, it took him ninety seven hours to smooth it out nicely enough to allow himself to slide down. He made himself a small area, big enough to be a miniature cabin. It had cool fairy lights around the place, a large red beanbag against the corner, about five stacks of comics, and a small corner that was specifically cleared out for the new Greenhills headset and all. Currently, there was a direction-suited treadmill and an old headset there, still useable too.
Sonic tossed down his bag, jumping onto the treadmill and putting on his headset. The first place he arrived at was a school setting, looking freshly polished and new. As his character loaded in, it slowly shifted and became shorter than a normal human, much shorter. Slowly, blue quills began to grow and some of them were messy. He had these red shoes with some white on them, and long white socks that looked so puffy it was like a balloon on his ankles. White gloves were on his hands, baggy jeans, a white T-shirt that looked almost similar to the Dark Arms racing teams, and an eye glass-like thing.
He was in the very back of the classroom, as per usual. He was always late to class, which he always got a punch in the arm due to it. He had a super cheap suit that let him feel everything in the game that happened to him physically. "Late again I see! Perhaps you should wakeup earlier, racing hog" A red echidna joked with a whisper and a light punch to Sonic's shoulder. Sonic rolled his eyes, "Okay, knux! Whatever you say" he said sarcastically. "Well, if you don't start showing up earlier, principal Starline is gonna fail you entirely Sonic!" Whispered a yellow fox with two strange tails that sat on the other side of Sonic. "Okay! Okay, I get it Tails. No need to point it out again." He huffed, rolling his eyes again.
He always hated math class, thinking it was pointless anyways, until he always gets picked out of the bunch in particular.
"Sonic the Hedgehog, to the principals office please" The speakers blasted, and everyone looked at the anthropomorphic hedgehog once his name was mentioned. He was met with a loud "Oooooo!!" from his classmates. The yellow fox looked at him with a worried look as he got up and began to walk to the door. The red echidna had a triumphant smirk as if he knew this would happen. Sonic walked down the hallways, up until he was met with the door of the Principal, Doctor starline. He opened the door and stepped inside, being met with the most unwelcome greeting.
"Sonic. You have showed up late for the past five weeks, vandalized the stalls several times within the last eight weeks, and you havent payed any attention to anything. If you keep this up, i'll just fail you entirely." Starline spoke with a straightforward answer, leaving no argument in his tone. He gave Sonic a glare and raised an eyebrow. "Will this continue to be an issue?"
"No, sir, I am sorry. It wont keep happening." Sonic avoided eye contact, looking anywhere except at starline. The principal nodded and excused him, which wouldn't be the best case of action knowing how Sonic is. He always gets himself into trouble somehow, and everyone knows it. This place was like a heaven and a hell all at once, school was horror until it ended. But for Sonic, he made the most of everything. Longclaw knows nothing about online, she has hated it for as long as she can remember and refuses to use it, but she lets Sonic use it freely. She trusts him afterall.
The principal waved Sonic off, dismissing him from the conference. Which, Sonic took no hesitation in standing up and going as fast as he could without running. He closed the door, turning around to see Tails and Knuckles standing right there, arms crossed, and eyebrows raised. "Did the ruler of the school tell you to show up earlier? As I predicted?" Knuckles' leaned in, raising a single eyebrow even more and giving a smug 'winning' smirk. "Yeah, so what? Im not gonna start changing my routine for some platypus doctor!" Sonic stuck out his tounge, rolling his eyes at Knuckles and then giving his own cocky smile in response.
"You guys are far more childish than even me, jeez." Tails rolled his eyes and turned away from the two embarrassments. Not too soon after did the three erupt in laughter, Knowing they all clearly meant well in their own silly way.
Sonic stopped laughing before them, giving his signature smirk and sneaking off behind them while their eyes were closed. He ran to his locker, opening the door to grab out blue and green spray cans. He snickered as the idea came to his head. 'Spray paint the side of the school.. It'd be fun! And to get back at Principal starline.' It was a horrible idea, but he couldn't resist the temptation. This game was very alike to real life, so they'd have to spend hours actually cleaning it off the wall if he did it. Sonic hated this school and its miserable teachers, he had to spice it up sometimes.
He closed his locker, jumping up bubbly in a way that made his avatar jump itself in a cartoony style, the quills bouncing lightly as if they were cotton and his ears flicking as if they were the ears of a wolf. He got on his heel and ran for it so he wouldnt be caught, dashing through the empty hallways which would soon be lively with kids chatting until the next class begun. He used the back school exit, knowing better than to take the front entrance and exit because the front office was there.
He shook the cans, finally slowing down and simply walking. He looked at the wall, then he began to start his spray painting bananza. He used grippy-shoes add-on he'd bought earlier for this sort of thing on his avatar, walking on the wall so he could get to higher-up spots and making a full strictly blue-and-green mix. It was a small, non-detailed spray painting of a Chaos Emerald with a large blue Sonic symbol infront of it. The Chaos Emeralds were the hardest things to get in the world, it was the one thing that no person has ever come close to ever achieving. That was his goal.
He was so focused in being joyed by his art, and the way he finally broke out of his admiration for it, he heard the last voice he wanted to hear.
"SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!! TO MY OFFICE!" The principal screamed, standing behind him furiously.
