Memories of Kate
Kate has gone (from me) but her memory lives on.
I loved having fun with her and taking her places but my favourite part has to be making her mini sweater*. It’s cute, it’s snuggly, it has nice long sleeves.
Essentially it’s the sweater I’d have wanted.
.
So I made me one too:
Because I really am that big a nerd.
If the weather hadn’t turned so warm I’d have shown it off sooner.
Thus far I’ve literally only worn it in order to take photos - roll on autumn!
Lightning bolt:
Side detail:
Pattern on the nice long, keeps-your-hands-warm-in-winter sleeves:
The sweater pattern is Sue Stratford’s ‘Volt’ Sweater which can be found here on Ravelry. I have to point out that the sleeves as given in the pattern would only have been 3/4 length in the size I made (as written the sleeves get shorter as the sweater width decreases) so I essentially just made up my own sleeves and added the patterned section at the end. Bear this in mind if you choose to knit this pattern yourself.
For my sweater I used West Yorkshire Spinners Ayre Valley DK wool blend in Grey with Pennyroyal and Purple for the lightning bolt.
It’s soft, it’s warm, and it’s supposed to be machine washable.
Kate’s sweater was knitted from Cascade 220 fingering wool.
*Have I ever mentioned how much I hate knitting intarsia? Not because I’m bad at it, it just annoys me how fiddly it can be to work.
Goodbye
Bye Kate. It as fun. Sorry that we didn’t get to take pictures with drunk drag queens.
Sightseeing
Come one dog. We need to find some more information. It good that the weather is nice.
Nice building.
Aaaand we are getting online. GPS tells me we are in... Denmark? Seems to be some place called Odense. I better look around.
Oh. There is some kind of shopping street.Â
No. Stay here dog. I need to do something about your running around all the time.Â
Hey. I’ve got an idea!
Now you can’t run away that easily. Let’s make sure where we are.
There is a sign over there.
We are definitely in the city Odense in Denmark. Seems like thee are a lot of interesting things here.
Lets see what it says.
Odense is more than 1000 years old, it’s the third-largest city in Denmark been here since before the vikings. It is the birthplace of the writer H. C Anderson.Â
Interesting. I guess I could do some sightseeing while I’m here.
This is cute.
Oh, over there is the house of H. C. Andersen.
It’s the yellow house there. Hmm. A little underwhelming.Â
It is getting late... What now?
Showtime
I feel pretty. Take some more pictures.
