Couples' first time saying, "I love you", to each other?
Couplesâ first time saying âI love youââŠ:
KUZUPEKO:
Fuyuhiko - Of the two of them, heâs undoubtedly the first one to say it. He doesnât think before he says it, either. He just says it with no regrets, no expectations of what sheâs going to say back to him. He does it after theyâve been apart for awhile, with some necessary alone time for her to grow as her own person. Sheâs standing by the shoreline, watching the waves crash on to the sand when he approaches. Sheâs telling him about her day, about all of the wonderful things that sheâs learned how to do and how kind the others have been to her, how Ibuki has lovingly nicknamed her. He canât help but smile as he listens to her speak, thinking the words over and over in his head. The longer theyâve been apart, the more intense his desire to say the words became. As she finally turns to ask him how heâs been doing, all he can think of is saying it. It comes out so effortlessly and smoothly in a way that doesnât even sound like heâs the one who said it. Heâs surprised by how calm he sounds.
Peko - Sheâs wanted to say it to Fuyuhiko for so long in her life, but sheâs shy about saying. How can she not be? As his tool, she didnât have the opportunity to express her emotions so openly. Especially not to him. When they do come out, they come out clumsily, with weird timing⊠The two of them are washing dishes in the restaurant after dinner when he cracks a joke, and she canât help but grin ever so slightly⊠Sheâs still working on those facial expressions. Before she can even think about whether or not itâs even a good place for the words to come out, or why she didnât just say it first when they were on that stupid beach, she blurts out: âFuyuhiko, I love youâ. Fuyuhiko drops the plate he was drying and it shatters. He scrambles to pick up the pieces, and ends up slicing his fingers. Peko is apologetic and helps him bandage it up, but it seems like Fuyuhiko could not care less. Instead, he stares at her with these adoring eyes and he murmurs, âDid you really mean that, Peko?â
SONDAM:
Sonia - Like Fuyuhiko, sheâs the one who says it first. Gundham is sweet, but ultimately more unable to express his feelings. So Sonia takes it upon herself to say the words to him first. It comes out in a moment of peace, perhaps while the two of them are cuddled up in bed together and watching a supernatural film. The two of them are chatting softly, with the Devas curled up in their laps as Sonia snuggles closer to Gundham. She smiles and gazes up at him thoughtfully as the words leave her mouth, ready to witness that adorable blush that she has come to know so well. Gundham canât help but blink with surprise, his face heating up⊠Heâs so stunned by it that he has to ask her to repeat what he said. She does so happily, knowing in her heart that whether he says it back or not, he returns her feelings.
Gundham -Â Getting an âI love youâ out of Gundham is hard. Not because he doesnât love Sonia, but because his speech patterns are so precise and so unusual. Getting Gundham to properly find the words to say it is a challenge, but when does, the words are dripping with affection. When he first professes his love to Sonia, itâs in the dead of the night. She comes running to his cottage in tears, throwing her arms around him and telling him that she had a nightmare about his death once again. She told him of how he was trampled to death right before her eyes, and how she had felt so powerless to do anything to stop it. She says that she finds herself worrying that something like that will happen, and thatâs why she came running. Gundham chooses to take her in to his cottage and tell her that she, just this once, can sleep in his bed that night if she doesnât tell the others. She agrees, and tells him that she loves him. Softly, he smiles and plants a gentle kiss on her forehead. âI love you too,â He whispers gently.
KASUHIRO/YASUJIMA:
Kanon - No surprise that sheâs the first one to say âI love youâ, but the way it comes out feels so foreign to her. After years of having unhealthy attachment to her cousin and consistently confessing to him, to the point of going through therapy because of her obsessive tendencies⊠The way she first told Yasuhiro that she loved him felt strange. Rather than outright pouring out her love in to his lap, she spoke simply. It was through a laugh, actually. The two of them were out at a restaurant together, somewhere that wasnât too classy. Classy was never really their speed. They had gotten all the way through their meal and were both eating their dessert. On Kanonâs side, she had a bowl of black cherry ice cream⊠but Yasuhiro had a brownie with the most whipped cream that she had ever seen. He had managed to get it all over his face numerous times, but none as funny as when she noticed a near-perfect dollop on his nose. She couldnât keep herself from laughing, blurting out without thinking, âOh my god, Yasu, I love youâŠâ
Yasuhiro - Yasuhiroâs âI love youâ is not spoken, but written. Though he seems like heâs all idiot all the time, he knows that Kanonâs out of his league. She could be a model, while he gets teased for looking like he just rolled out of bed most of the time. Of course he loves Kanon, and thinks sheâs pretty, but thatâs why he writes it instead of saying it the first time. He insists that it would be too intimidating to look her in the eye and say the words, and he knows heâd screw it up⊠so he writes her a note, and sticks it in her bag. She finds the note while sheâs at the sort of Post-Tragedy college, and has to try and hide her blush as she reads it during class. She fails, and nearly has the note taken away by her mentor, but manages to keep it from them. She takes it out to read it again and again the whole way home, and when she returns to the home that sheâs begun to share with Yasuhiro, she pulls him into a loving embrace.
NAEGIRI:
Makoto - Makoto says it first. Is it any surprise that Makoto says it first? Heâs so much more in tune with his emotions than Kyoko is. Interestingly enough, though, the first time itâs said by him⊠well, it doesnât happen when he and Kyoko are officially together. It actually happens when he tells her that he wants to be officially together. After they had a rather impromptu kiss in the bathroom while she cared for his wounds, Makotoâs come to the realization that she might actually like him back. He knows that heâs got to put himself out there, or else he risks missing his chance to court her. In the days following their first kiss, he spends all kinds of time talking to both Aoi and Komaru about how he can best confess to her. Eventually they settle on him simply spilling all of his feelings out in the open. When the time comes, he sits her down on the apartment couch and confesses to everything. Of course, the confession starts with the words: âKyoko, Iâm⊠Iâm madly in love with you. I think I have been for a long time now⊠even before the whole Tragedy thing. I know itâs a lot for you to hear, and youâre probably not ready, but I⊠I just⊠I love you, Kyoko. And I couldnât live with you not knowing anymore.â
Kyoko - She always knew the words were going to be harder for her to say. But perhaps thatâs what made it more satisfying for her to finally be able to say them. It happens when heâs touching her bare hands. More specifically, while heâs taking care of them. With burn wounds as advanced as Kyokoâs, post-injury care is the most important thing. For years she had been looking after her hands on her own, but as soon as she entered her relationship with Makoto, he took on the responsibility like it was nothing. Without even being asked. Nightly he would massage special ointment in to her hands with his own, and then gently wrap bandages to around her hands to make sure that it would soak in. He did this for so many nights in a row, so carefully and kindly... Always making sure that he never hurt her in any way. For so many nights he did this in a row for her, right up until she finally snapped one night. He had just finished wrapping up her hand in the bandages, and had tilted his head up to make sure that he hadnât made it too snug. However, before he could even get the words out of his mouth, she stared him straight in the eyes and whispered, âI love youâ.

I wasn't too sure how to convey them as goals so I just stuck with lovey dovey quotes, I hope that's fine! If you want anything changed/fixed, don't be afraid to tell me!
