I imagine that everyone is so used to Damian being this fierce angry Robin, they forget that he's still a kid. He's too prideful to ask for help, or so it seems of course, because he can't risk showing weakness, he never gives up.

This translates to all the much older, much stronger batkids going at him full strength during sparring practice, and Damian just taking whatever injuries happen because he doesn't want to look weak. So when Dick pins Damian in a hold far too painful, one that bends him in ways that only Dick can move, he finally has to ask for mercy. "You are crushing me right now."

Dick, who knows that Damian doesn't even let a stab wound slow him down, throws himself off of Damian in a panic. He didn't realize that he was hurting Damian, none of them ever do.
