When the story ends, we see Rui thinking to himself about Tsukasa and his performance. He ends off with this line:

But it’s incomplete and vague, so here is what I think Rui meant by “just how far…” note that the head canons I think are most likely are highlighted:p

Just how far… would Sakaki have went? (as in just how far did/would Sakaki have taken Tsukasa. To his breaking point? Beyond that without a care in the world?)

Just how far… would Tsukasa have went? (as in would he take it to a mile and beyond to the point where he genuinely starts living as the character? If they didn’t help, what would happen?)

Just how far… could he have went? (as in how close was Tsukasa to his limit? Could he really be pushed over the edge like that and come back fine? How thin could one stretch Tsukasa Tenma for a role?)

Just how far… was Tsukasa willing to go? (As in where was Tsukasa’s limit for this? Was there none? Was he genuinely okay with going to infinity and beyond into madness and despair just for one role?)

Just how far… can Tsukasa go? (A general question like “where is his peak?” And “how much can he shine before he reaches his cap” —and maybe even inevitably burns out?)

Just how far… can I take him? (More on my rui and kasa7 analysis later but I made a post a while ago about Rui possibly feeling inadequate for WxS, especially when faced with the truth that Sakaki’s advice, although harmful and potentially even grooming, helped Tsukasa’s performance. When I say “just how far… can I take him/them” I mean how much can rui help them on his own before he caps out and can’t help them reach their full potential anymore. I think this isn’t likely to be what he meant but if Rui8 is gonna be angsty, it’d probably go this ‘am I a good enough director /actor for them or should I move on from wxs for their sake’ route.)

There is also a chance it’s referring to earlier in the story where Sasaki said “you’ve got to be willing to go this far, right” and Rui, after multiple occupancies of Sakaki redirecting him, took this event as a sign he too has to push Tsukasa and he meant “just how far… do I have to go with him?” because rui is starting to internalize Sakaki’s advice on how to direct Tsukasa. I hope to god not omfg.

8. Or it can still be referring to earlier in the story but his line is what I originally implied, “just how far would Sakaki/does Sakaki go?”

9. Or, callback to one of my prior guesses, Rui’s “just how far” line is connected to Sakaki saying “to think he’d reach that level in the end” about Tsukasa and Rui is asking himself how far can Tsukasa go and what is his highest level.
