I hope this letter finds you well, albeit perhaps confused on why you’re receiving a handwritten letter in place of an email, text or call. Simply, I enjoy writing, and it is a good excuse for me to practice my written language. Words have a habit of escaping me, more so in languages that aren’t my own, but I comfortable with you, and I know you will not judge me harshly for my mistakes.
I have been thinking a lot recently about your visit here to Iceland some time ago. We went fishing together, and I cooked for you. You may have not been the first of us that I have taken on my boat, but you were, perhaps, my favourite. I have given Little Olga a fresh coat of paint since you were last here, and had some of her interior replaced and upgraded. I think I was so used to how she had always been, that I had forgotten to notice the cracks in the paneling. Life is often like that, I think – we always look past problems because they are how things always are, even though they are not how they should be.
The days are getting longer here now. The sun rose just before nine this morning, and I was glad to be able to take Little Olga around the islands by the coast. She seems much more lively now with her new paint, I even had her name rewritten in a new font.
If it is agreeable to you, you are most welcome to visit me in Reykjavík again. I always enjoyed our conversations, and I know that people consider it good to get away from ones home sometimes. I hope when you think about where you would next like to visit, you will consider me. I still have more dishes to share with you.
Your friend,
Fannar
