on the subject of #sockmates, I like to think about Matt and Karen meditating together...
Like one Saturday, Karen is over working on a case at Matt's loft, and he's dealing with some injuries so he's in his hoodie-and-socks look, and she was too tired to get dressed properly so she's in comfy clothes too. And at some point during their work, they take a break and Matt says he's going to meditate and she asks him about it, and he explains how it helps with the pain and healing. And then he starts, and Karen offers to leave so he can concentrate better.
"No, it's better when you're here," he says. "When I'm alone, I have to work harder to shut everything out, and sometimes the sounds still find a way into my head, but when you're here, I can let you in. I can focus on your breathing, on your heartbeat, not just mine, and it helps."
"Oh." She sits down facing him on the floor, cross-legged just like him. "I'll stay then."
He flexes his hands on his knees, and she reaches for them and holds them. The zing of connection between them feels very real and powerful, and Karen does her best to channel whatever strength she has into him.
They match each other's breathing, and it's peaceful and calm. Together, they mend.
