ok this is “brutally honest” so i’m gonna be brutally honest: the popularity of this pairing always reminds me of how quick fandom is to throw women to the side in favor of steamy yaois. so while i Strongly Dislike both silva and kikyo, every time i see people shipping silva outside of his canonically loving marriage (they’re both horrible but they’re portrayed as being in love with each other anyway) it always makes me think “ah yes fandom misogyny” even though that’s a huge generalization.
i’m not saying “if you ship chrollo and silva you’re a woman-hating yaoi fetishist” bc that’s just... not... necessarily true... but it’s just such a harsh reminder of a trend in fandom that i’ve seen for years. whether or not you feel like silva and kikyo are a compelling romance or not (additionally a lot of people just hate kikyo i guess, which, yeah, but they hate Only Her and not silva), it just is telling to me that people just chuck her aside in favor of hot dudes.
