🪔 Diwali Special 🪔
करंजी
[karaṅjī], noun (feminine), plural करंज्या [karaṅjyā]
karanji (a type of Diwali treat)
या करंज्या आत्ताच तळल्या आहेत, आधी त्यांना थंड होऊ दे आणि मग खा. yā karaṅjyā āttāč taḷlyā āhet, ādhī tyāṅnā thaṅḍa hoū de āṇi mag khā
These karanjis were just fried, first let them cool down and then eat them.
Origin: करंज [karaṅj] (Indian beech), from Sanskrit करंज.
Karanjis do not actually involve the use of the Indian beech in any way. They are nevertheless called these because their shape closely resembles that of the fruit of the Indian beech.
