Algerian actress, Nadia Talbi, is wearing a traditional Karakou.
This would mark my first time wearing something decent (with my scarf on) for a wedding party and I loved the outfit so much I thought I should post it !
The upper part of is a Karakou vest: an Algerian traditional costume that incorporates a velvet jacket usually embroidered in gold and silver in beautiful patterns inspired from nature, accompanied with the traditional special pants, Seroual, (it is sometimes replaced with a dress or a skirt) and typically worn by the women of Algiers.

الكراكو عبارة عن سترة مخملية ظهرت في القرن التاسع عشر اي بعد الوجود العثماني في الجزائرو هو نسخة مطورة للغليلة جبادولي و مع الاختفاء التدريجي لهدا للباس العاصمي القديم اخد الكراكوا مكانه اصبح اللباس الأساسي عند العروس العاصيمية و خاصة عند العائلات الأرستقراطيةو تم التفنن بخياطته بأرقى الأقمشة و طرزه بخيوط ذهبية سواءا مجبود او فتلة و غالبا ما كانت الفتلة هي الأكثر استعمالًا في الكراكو القديم ...
تطور الكراكوا مع الوقت و مع ابداع المصممين في عصرنته و توصيله الى العالميةاصبح يكتسح ارقى التظاهرات و المعرض العالمية❤
و اهم الحلي الذي كان يزين المرأة العاصيمية مع الكراكوا نجد الذين كانوا مرصعين بالالماس و الأحجار الكريمة 💎زيادة الى خيط الشعير و خيط الجوهر و شنتوف اللويز او السلطاني و كرفاش بولحيةمع مسايس و مقايس و خواتم مزينة بالأحجار الكريمة 💎
ماننساوش محرمة الفتول
قديما في قلب العاصمة الجزائرية وتحديدا في القصبة العتيقة ، حيث تتميز بقرب منازل الجيران لبعضهم البعض واشتراكهم في فناء واحد و تميزها بأسطح واسعة ، كانت تحرص المرأة الجزائرية على إرتداء قطعة قماش حريرية فوق رأسها عند الخروج لفناء المنزل أو صعودها إلى السطح لحياءها وسترتها مع الحفاظ على أناقتها
فمحرمة الفتول هي قطعة قماش من الحرير تنتهي بخيوط ذهبية فضية أو بيضاء ، فبعدما كانت ترتديها المرأة الجزائرية العاصمية يوميا أصبحت قطعة أسياسية في تصديرة العروس الجزائرية و تلبس مع اللباس التقليدي الكاراكو.

ALGERIA. An Algerian woman wearing a karakou covered by a long white veil called hayek. She's also wearnig a aajar (عجار) to cover her face and khit el rouh( خيط الروح), a typical algerian piece of jewelry.
