"he always has been a foolish man, i just didn't think he was this idiotic. i suppose he was blinded by your charming looks or something like that."

"it's gorgeous, right?" kaori has been otherwise rather quiet, admiring the ring that now adorns her finger. while her fiancé mills around enjoying the attention of such a public proposal, she can't help but think it's not what she would've chosen for herself. "did you know about this?"

“i don’t know,” kaori shrugs, face passive for a moment. “i suppose you might’ve thought that just because things hadn’t worked out between him and i that maybe the two of you had a chance.” knowing her husband, she’s certain that would’ve been the narrative that he tried to spin. at least that way he might end up with one of them. luckily enough lennox had the good sense to put an end to that idea. “however — what’s the saying? once a cheat, always a cheat.”

"good, sleeping with married people isn't often a particularly favourable trait to have." though, kaori can think of a few select circumstances where that wouldn't be the case. she breathes out a bit of a laugh at alison's reaction, shrugging her shoulders. "you don't think it's a good thing to be praised?"

kaori hummed thoughtfully at that — really she wasn’t sure if her husband was a serial cheater or simply an opportunist and noemi had been in the right place at the right time. it didn’t much matter. she herself wasn’t about to forgive him and it felt awfully vindicating to know his mistress wouldn’t either. “i would say that i don’t think he has the gall for trying the same thing twice but he’s proven me wrong before,” she shrugged, no longer having it in her to be angry about the affair. “for what it’s worth, i don’t think most people would ask someone if they were married before sleeping with them without having good reason to.”

"you haven't taken him back?" kaori sounds vaguely impressed by that fact. she knows her ex-husband can be convincing; it was the whole reason she had considered taking him back after his infidelity. she's not in the market of befriending the woman her husband cheated on her with but when they cross paths so often, she sees no harm in being cordial. perhaps a little more than cordial.
