Unfreeze Your Pipes Like a Pro
Frozen pipes are very common during winter. This happens when the water inside the pipe lines freeze, turns it into ice and expands. The water inside exerts more than 2K lbs per square inch of pressure, enough to break most pipes. If this happens, a huge amount of water will pour out equating of thousands of dollars of damages to your property.
There are so many ways to thaw frozen pipes. Most of these can be done by YOU!
1. Locate the frozen pipe first and turn on the faucets to keep the water flowing. Flowing water is less likely to freeze. 2. Ready your hair dryer, this is the most convenient tool in thawing frozen pipes. In doing so, remember not to focus or warm off one specific area as you could damage the pipes even more. 3. If the dryer is unsuccessful, try using the heat gun. 4. There are also other ways such as the heat tapes that are commonly available from hardware stores, plumbing supply shop or home improvement centers. Wrap a layer of heat tape around the frozen area and plug it to the toilet.
