A lot had happened the past few days. His mother had been repeatedly showing up on his doorstep, yelling and screaming at his father to let her see him. Todd refused, and at his fathers expense. As usual, the cops were called -- His father narrowly avoiding arrest only because Todd had stepped in to tell the cops that his mother is the one causing trouble. Reluctantly they believed Todd -- The deviant whom they had grown far too familiar with.
But it seemed that Avery’s obsession with her Mother’s money had been growing and growing. Memere had suggested that Todd and Joey not come to visit on their usual Sunday afternoon. Avery would be there, and she had been very rude to Memere from what Todd and Joey could gather.
And then, on that Thursday Afternoon, Todd was pulled from his English class -- Told to go to the principle. He had winked at Sheila before he’d left the class room -- after all, he’d just told her about how he was sure the principle was close to finding out that Todd had been the one responsible for the food fight last week.
But then his world s h a t t e r e d. His Memere had DIED in her sleep. He burst, in anger, in sorrow. He’d burst open and felt the raw emotion of loosing his grandmother. Her funeral was Saturday and Todd spent most of his time grieving on Friday. Sunday, he locked himself in his room. Monday came -- and it was time to go to school. He’d been ignoring all of Sheila’s texts. Sorrow weighing heavy on him.
Though in this small town in the suburbs of Montreal, news travels quickly. And when Todd entered the school’s foyer that Monday morning, a hush fell over the students. Whispered words of disbelief and sorrow flooding his ears. But he wanted to find his friend. He also wanted to be alone.
When he sees her, his eyes lock -- the blue of his iris’ seemingly brighter, but only because of the tears they’re fighting back. He looks away and makes his move to leave the school -- turning and walking back out of the doors. Part of him hoping she follows. Part of him hoping she won't.
