Oh, the mystery!
I joined Tumblr because I had fallen completely head over heels with the musical Wicked - and my London Elphaba Willemijn Verkaik’s voice - and I just wanted to keep track of what was going on with that. Everything Wicked is very... green and many of the metaphors in the musical are about diversity and discrimination. So I think it meant that I was just another shade of different. Another shade of green.
Of course, around the same time I started watching Once Upon a Time and I didn’t really plan for it to happen, but I felt compelled to write about the show, because I wanted to understand it, talk to others about it. Suddenly that was the main focus of my blog and it hasn’t stopped. Now, green was never my favorite color, I don’t feel like it represents me. I’m more blue and violet. Dreamy colors... So when an Anon asked me as a joke if I was going to change my name to Another shade of Blue if I was right after I wrote something about the Blue Fairy I decided to go for it. It’s more me. I kept my URL because I didn’t want to mess up any links... and in general I’m confusing and ambiguous about things, so why not allow my blog to reflect that, right?
Not the most interesting story, I guess, but well... those are the reasons. Let’s end with some Willemijn in blue...
