Personally the best thing about not being a Hollow Knight fan while having several friends who are is getting to observe their ramblings and their art while also not having to suffer with them over the fact that Silksong is never coming out. The longer I do not become a fan the longer I am at peace 🙏

I also really really really hate Sky. He’s ten times worse than the baby characters because he’s supposed to be an actual adult. He just screams fanservice meant to make you go “aw what a wholesome bean” and I cannot stand him.

I don't get how people can like him. He's like a baby character but infinitely worse because now it's not even the excuse of them being a toddler. Him being a grown adult, the brother of Peril no less, and acting like this is just grating. What's worse is that I can feel that he could've been better written. A dragon growing up outside of their society, never quite fitting into either scavenger or dragon society, is a neat concept. But instead we get the YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPES line. It feels like Tui just got chronically bored writing Dragonslayer (can't blame her) and made him so...childish to entertain herself?
I don't really quite fully understand why Tui likes writing baby characters so much. I mean, I myself really do enjoy my chaotic and wacky characters (especially villains), but I don't want to just shoehorn them in when it isn't beneficial to the plot at all. Baby characters are even more atrocious since, in WoF at least, are basically irrelevant to the story. Auklet was relevant via her egg and such, but any other one could be taken out of the narrative and, with some minor reworking, would be fine.
Sky is awful. I cannot see how you can find this character charming in the slightest. He's just...eughhhhh I hate him...

Friend got warned for making fun of America ironically (for a joke)(didn't even mention anything worth warning)
One moderator being outed as a pedo
Several moderators being demoted for a plethora of reasons just to be brought back on (and then demoted again)
Telling people to just "drop it" or "you're just being haters" whenever they bring up genuine criticisms about the staff
Making an April Fools joke where they made a fake mod channel where one of them (the one guilt-tripping Peril btw) said a bunch of homophobic and ableist things to be funny (they were being ""ironic"" so it funny obviously)
Unpopular take incoming but Snowfall is my least favourite protagonist by a longshot and I just could never get invested in her. Her screaming in all caps once every page didn’t help either. She never clicked for me like it did for others and like, I get why others like her, but when she’s not being racist or rude and yelling she’s just boring to me. I already had Sundew who had sarcastic wit I don’t need that again but worse.
Literally so incredibly mecore. I get that others related to her struggles of being put in a position that feels undeserving and cracking under the stress, trying so hard to keep up a good face, but it just DRAGS ON AND ON.. It just gets annoying to slog through her book and half of it is because of her screaming in caps all the time. I still laugh when I open up a random page and my eyes instantly land on whatever she's yelling about now.
I don’t mean to be rude or anything but your take on Qibli read to me way more on how certain parts of the fandom talk about him rather than how the books actually reflect him. Qibli is a flawed guy and it’s really apparent in his own book, I’m not sure what exactly it is you want out of him. Again sorry if that sounded rude at all lol 😭
Maybe I need to read DOD again lol. I can't remember a single time it really calls him out for it. Maybe I'm just mixing fanon and canon up again and forgot that canon is actually competent at times and that it's fanon that horrifically interprets certain characters.
Regardless, Qibli is such a fascinating character to me and I wish more people in the fandom didn't just treat him as "The Funny Guy" since. no. he's actually a pretty tragic character. Please treat him more than just a guy to say the quirky funny lines in your quirky funny animatics and fics please please please-
