Here comes my entry for Kalex Week Day 3: sloth. A whole ficlet, wow. Sorry if it’s awful. Somehow I ended up writing fluff for a prompt about a sin. oh well..who doesn’t love some fluff?
Alex groans as she get inside the house. She's tired, having spent the afternoon with some of her old classmates. Why she was even invited still is a mystery. It's not like they spent the last year of high school being friendly. Having one of everyone's favorite teachers arrested and getting the Quarterback kicked out of the team would do that to someone. Not that she'd ever regret any of that. It put two criminals behind bars and got her and Kara close enough to finally start acting like sisters. She smiles as she walks up the stairs. Being in college is cool, especially being away from her mom and this hell of a place, but she misses sharing a room with Kara. Or studying together, or spending the night just talking. She simply misses Kara. Grinning, she skips the last two steps and moves to their room, excited to finally be able to spend time with her. As soon as she opens the door, though, she stops in her track, looking around in shock.
Kara is laying on her bed, evidently waking up from a nap. She rubs her eyes sleepily as Alex looks around the room. Kara's bag is open on the ground, clothes scattered all around. A shirt is even laying on Alex's bed, while somehow a sock ended up hanging from her old lava lamp.
“What happened in here? Did your bag explode?”
Yawning, Kara shakes her head.
“I decided to put everything away as I was waiting for you to come back, but then I got hungry.”
She waves her hand toward the window nook, where packaging of various food items is laying around.
“And then I got sleepy and decided to take a nap.”
“You've been home four hours. How can you have already made this mess?”
She groans as she keeps staring at all the stuff messily piled around.
“Mom is gonna kill me and it will be your fault.”
“I'll put everything away before she comes home. Now come cuddle and tell me all about college.”
Alex starts picking up clothes and putting them away.
“No way. I know your lazy ass. When you get like this you won't do anything and then mom will bite my ass. And besides, we talk everyday. You already know everything.”
“Then come and tell me about today. We saw each other for a minute before you disappeared.”
“We have the rest of the break to spend together, Kara.”
She'll never admit to her excitement of just minutes before, she has an image to maintain. Besides, Eliza will really be pissed if she sees the room like that. And of course she'll blame her.
Kara is staring at her with her biggest and most convincing pout.
“Com'on...I missed my sister...come cuddling...”
Alex passes beside the bed to put a sweatshirt in the closet, but in a flash she finds herself laying down and engulfed in Kara's arms. The Kryptonian giggles.
“You squeaked like a little girl!”
“I did not! And you're not allowed to use your powers, remember?”
“It's just us, in our room. Nothing is gonna happen to you.”
“Com'on, Kara... Let me finish to pick up your mess and then we can relax.”
Kara doesn't let go of her.
“Nope. Lazy day. Cuddling. Missed my sister.”
“I'd like to remind you that you speak English perfectly well.”
Even as she protests, though, she relaxes against Kara's body. Annoyingly enough, during the last year of school she got taller than her. Since then Kara loves to be the bigger spoon when they cuddle.
Kara nuzzles her shoulder and tightens her grip, always careful not to hurt her.
“Don't care. I only got two weeks with you.”
Alex smiles and moves her hand to tangle their fingers together.
“Missed me that much, Alien girl?”
The human girl smiles softly and cuddles back into Kara, closing her eyes. Who cares if mom will yell. She's with Kara now. And that always makes everything better.
Kara squeezes her for a moment, before relaxing against her. Minutes later they're both asleep, pressed together, legs entwined and fingers tangled. A smile on both of their faces. Lazy day with your favorite person are always the best.
