Okay so continuing on the question I asked on the Prodigious, what else do you got in mind for it? And how would you expand on its abilities because of it? Because again I’m curious why make it such a big deal in canon if they never further elaborate more on it.
Me: Ask me more about the Prodigious!
Also Me: Lets this ask sit in my inbox for ages.
sorry
So anyways: in older posts I cite renlings and kaires as children of Vitaa, born from Life and are much more tied to earth than kwamis naturally were. However as canon has given us more magical beings (Maino'li the Hummingbird, the Sprites from Stellar Force, etc) I thought it would be fun to expand each species (beings?) origins to a different Alpha/Alphas. I want to know more about the new beings before setting everything in stone. Renlings will still be tied to Life though, and kaires will probably be tied to Creation, and the sprites from Stellar Force will definitely have some connection to Stellar, of course.
So in my AU there will never be any mention of the Prodigious being more powerful than the Miraculouses (I don't really get why this was thing. Nooroo's Miraculous can already grant shapeshifting powers and a million other things on its own). I am still debating if it will have been made before the Miraculouses or not, but either way the renlings and kaire are much much younger beings than the kwamis. As such they are easier to tie to a magical object, which is probably why they will have come first.
So while kwamis come into existence alongside their concept, renlings weren't born from their values; but rather claimed ones they liked long after they were born. There might be some kwamis whose concepts overlap with their claimed values; but this isn't a true overlap as they are not the embodiment of said concept, but more a seeker of it. Renlings only grant shapeshifting into their chosen animal, and can only give this ability to someone who represents the values they have claimed. They are much weaker than kwamis overall, but have a much more natural connection with humanity and earth. Kwamis function on a universal scale, but renlings were born alongside earth. While kwamis are overwhelming abstract concepts who have been bound just to connect with the life on earth, renlings don't have to be restrained in such a way to be with humans, it's much easier and less dangerous.
There are always eight renlings per Prodigious, with one being based on a magical animal, who acts as the leader of their group of renlings. All Prodigious are guarded by a kaire, but a kaire can guard other things besides a Prodigious. kaires' are highly tied to the physical realm, while renlings are more tied to the spiritual. kaires are not just spirits like most other beings, but have a natural physical form. They also have a magical object called a Zealous. But this is less like a Miraculous that binds them but more like their reserve of power, and whoever they give the Zealous too will have access to that power. (But again this power is much lesser than the kwams; for example a single Soul Gem would infinitely dwarf what a Zealous could do, but a Zealous is still dangerous in the hands on a wrong human.)
Kaire thrive based off of connection, and always have something they bond too. Whatever they are bonded to they will protect with pure devotion using their Zealous, but it has to be worthy of such loyalty. Their bond can be with anything: a person, an item, a location, a family line. Think of them as guardians and protectors. There are six major kaires, and these are the ones that guard the Prodigious and the Soul Gems; but there are many other minor kaires out there as well. If a mountain is said to be guarded by a god of somekind? Probably a kaire. A magical weapon who people have to earn the right to wield? A kaire is watching it. (Lady of the Lake and Excalibur? More like a kaire has a favorite sword and wants it back right now, Kicc.) Earn the trust of a kaire and they will entrust you with their Zealous, bond, and do all they can to protect you.
Kaire get two forms: a companion form (basically the small kwami-like one) and a champion form (think that statue that Mei Shi was at first, though what the champion form will exactly look like varies depending on the individual kaire). They need to have their Zealous in order to access the champion form.
So yeah, in my AU I don't really expand on the Prodigious powers, but rather more clearly define what they are. What I really end up expanding on is beings like Mei Shi and the other kaires, who are probably a bit stronger than renlings on the power scale.
The main Prodigious in this AU though will be Greek Prodigious (Also called Pandora's Prodigious), who contains the renlings of Hope, Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth, Envy, Greed, Lust, and Pride. They are guarded by the kaire Lao Shi, and are currently wielded by Felix. Felix won't have any direct connection to Miraculouses in this AU, but I figured I'd still give him a magic object.
