woke up and immediately fell down a rabbit hole trying to figure out HOW bullshit the limb reattaching in kaiji is. because i know it's bullshit but suddenly i need to know the amount. turns out replantation IS a thing and it actually IS successful sometimes

points in kaiji's favor include 1) the short time it took to get those fingers to a hospital and the use of ice (though i can't remember if they put the fingers in a bag or smth, and direct contact with the ice would damage the tissue and probably do more harm than good) and 2) the cleanness of the cut (since the guillotine method doesn't mangle it like, say, a lawnmower would). but points against it include the fact they were cut off at the base rather than somewhere in the middle, making it less likely the nerves would regrow

anyway it's always bothered me that kaiji didn't have to deal with at the very least partial loss of motion and sensation. she should be disabled about it is what im saying

rewatching the bog is so funny bc i completely forgot how normal ichijou looks for the first six episodes or so. he's genuinely almost entirely regular (facially) until kaiji's attempt, where his face is some iteration of this for four full meaty hours of television:
