SOMETHING IS COMING - -
Somehow, every time I draw him in this crimson shirt someone is going to die.
The symbolism â˘
Hereâs the thing: Dan teaches fencing (the duel kind) to a small class of third sons and rebelious ladies inbetween squad assignments. And theyâre good. Partially âcause teachings of House of Toart has some very effective tricks, mostly because everyone of them care only about being good, not about reputation, so an other-world-runaway mercinary is okay, if heâs a skilled one.
(and nosebleeding Kahary as a bonus)
Thinking all week how my story is very much like Steven Universe
It has huge twisted political plot with some coup d'etat and other things in the background
And it also has whole arcs, one after another, dedicated solely to explore charactersâ feelings and relationships with one another.
And I donât like to consider them âfillersâ. They are the story.
Itâs a story about people, and how their very human doings connected in the course of these major events. Hell, it all ended the way it ended partially because Val had âill feelingâ when visiting Jovolâs court (being only half-right), and Kahary convinced Dan to go with it.
It has several moments of âokay we werenât prepared for this in the slightest, we canât do shitâ. Kaharyâs stupid remarks got them in touch with Ulis, without whom they certanly couldnât do shit, and very possibly would be killed.
Like, iâm split. I know I love this, this ârash decisions and dumb luck, thatâs why this crap venture succeededâ. But somehow thereâs always be these salty people who would say âitâs not life-like, itâs just crap writingâ.Â
eh.

Dark places, same faces.
Eyyat'Sha
A spirit of eternal wildfire in ilay mythology.
And also a nickname once given to Kahary.
But, as it turns out, fire wasn't everlasting.
[having fun with all that lettering. can you call it lettering, btw?//]

Kahary
On an average day, what can be found in your characterâs pockets?
Some coin, pocket knife, some stollen passes, a luck charm of some sort: maybe a cheep amulet, or a stone in shape of equilateral triangle (believed to bring luck by ilay) or half a coin (believed to do the same by imperium people)
In what situation was your character the most calm theyâve ever been?
Stargazing with Dan after celebration of Tarvenar (Harvest). They got pretty drunk, and danced, talked, talked and talked, and stars were so mesmerizingly beautiful. Dan braided his hair and recorded a memory shard for him (as he knew that what happened next morning would destroy this beautiful memories). When he was young and in love, and everything else seemed irrelevant. It till this day remains his most cherished memory.Â
What does your character dislike in other people?
When people go back on their word, generally shallow people
Valaria
Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
Endless talking to people with no memorable features.
What does your character like in other people?
enterprise, strong personal code and ideas, ability to live life to the fullest and profound taste
Arladan
Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?
Death of all his relatives and clansmen (Elliars of Toart house)
He still considers it to be his fault. The night of assasination he ran off to meet his friends and dispelled the spell meant to register people in and out of the premises. Unnececary precaution, no one would dare to attack glorious house of Toart, why are we keeping it up anyway, right? So when assasins came all were asleep and practically no one resisted.Â
And when he came home at dawn there were dead bodies everywhere and all his thoroughly planned life was shattered.
Kahary and Val know about it firsthand. Yuthar knows. All ilay nobility vaguely know that house of Toart no longer exist. But only Kahary know in details how it kept affecting Dan through almost half of his life.Â
In what situation was your character the most afraid theyâve ever been?
Same accident but a bit after it. He was in shock and didnât really feel much first days, but terror slowly overwhelmed him when realization that all he knew about himself is gone and never coming back sank in.
