ON PROMOTING THE ILOCANO LANGUAGE In celebration of National Children's Book Day and in partnership with USM College of Education, Kilagasan Elementary School, and Aklat Alamid, SOX Reading Advocates organized the National Children's Book Day Storytelling & Book Giving Activity at Kilagasan Elementary School, Kabacan, (North) Cotabato Province last July 23, 2018. This event aims to promote the local language as a medium for reading, writing, and storytelling. Ceasar Ramirez, an education student from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), read the Ilocano children's story "Ti Dakkel nga Armang" (The Giant Krill) to some Grade 3 & 4 pupils of the said school. This is the first series of storytelling sessions among Ilocano communities in Region 12. The next sessions will be at Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat and Maitum, Sarangani Province.
