so, I saw KA:LotS tonight. y'all. go see it. seriously. it's late and I'm off to bed, but here are my some of my knee-jerk, off-the-cuff reactions: - the giant elephants were as bizarre and over-the-top as I thought they would be - the way they incorporated Vortigern's tower into the story was interesting. I wasn't sure if the serpents were supposed to represent dragons, but I liked it - who were the octopus women??? if anyone has any knowledge or thoughts on the inspiration for these figures, please lmk - confused about Mordred's role, and who Arthur's nemesis is supposed to be in the sequels. my friend had a thought that it be Blue, but that makes me sad - YES Bedivere. always. - YES George and his circle of fighters, and a lot of other great OCs - love the idea of how the sword came to be in the stone - wasn't sure I was going to like the style of the movie, but I did end up liking it. a little weird, but different than so many medieval movies - the soundtrack is EXCELLENT - I was so disappointed but not really surprised at the treatment of women in the story. I'm just really tired of female characters being introduced only to be abused, attacked, or killed to further a man's narrative. seriously, the only major woman in the film doesn't habe a name (she's literally credited as "The Mage"), and I can only remember one (ONE??!!) woman who 1) has a name that was spoken a couple different times, and 2) makes it to the end of the movie alive. - that being said, the Mage was a bamf, and I can't wait to see who she is in the next movie
